Wow I think im the only one in the world still running a qmp kit. I just put my log back on last weekend. It had 3-4 cracks in it causing a slight exhaust leak. It took about 5k for this to happen. But im not sure how many miles were put on befor me. Josh @Kentucky turbo took care of it for me.

I could see how a truck manifold could make more power. The log looks really small for the amount of exhaust flow that is going through it,especially with the other bank tied into it.

I just put the new tc78 on mine so we will see what kind that can do!!

Oh i will. Ive put about 50miles on it so far but i havent had a chance to beat on it due to the lack of tune. There is a little bit more oil on the air outlet of this turbo. Im not sure if thats totally normal

I don't think there should be any oil in the outlet pipes at all. Maybe you need to use a restrictor? Keep a close eye on it maybe it will get better. Are you getting any smoking in the exhaust?

Im not getting any smoke in the exhaust but i havent really gotten on it yet. I spoke to dr turbo and he said that a restrictive air filter setup up can cause this. I have a 4inch to 3inch reducer then a filter. It looks like the turbo came with a restrictor in the fitting for the main feed line. And i did install that.

the truck manifolds arent exactly 100% log, considering there is some " directions" in the beginning of the runners.

sorry to hi jack the thread. Maybe you should try and fit a full 4" intake pipe for a new filter, but you will not see the filter become a restriction quite yet if you havn't gotten on it yet? Not sure what is happening. Drive it some more and keep a close eye on it and before using a restricor maybe listen to dr turbo. Good luck!

Yes if you use to small of an air filter or to small of piping that is restrictive it will cause a vacuum on the compressor side of the turbo and actually suck oil through the backing plate, which lands into the charge pipes.

Truck manifolds are effective. That pretty much sums it up. They can take a beating and a ton of heat and you dont have to worry about them. Yes you have to ditch the A/C and relocate the Alt. Its part of it.

Mild or Stainless Log manifods can be made to work. I have seen several designs make big numbers. The cracking is the downfall. Most are made of 16 gauge steel. I think If they were made out of thicker gauge steel the cracking issues could be minimized. Logs are simple to make and can be made to keep the A/C and other components on the car.

As for finding a foundry and making turbo manifold s for these cars. It makes next to no sense. The design would have to fit a number of LSX applications to even make it worth while. Its a good idea, but a super expensive one to go after.
