Turbo 6 Domestics allowed in Nopi......
Looks like new challenges for the domestic V6 crowd is on the horizon. The class states the turbo sizes, but it is unlimited with N20. Possible a V6 f-body with a 3.8 and 82mm with spray and 2800 lbs would be interesting.

Whats the point, if they limit it to 3.5L then there will be virtually no domestic V6's that qualify, being that they all classify the 3.8L as "large displacement". I guess it leaves the 3.4V6 F-bodies and I suppose Luminas of old... maybe a minivan or something. Real exciting.

There is a Geo Metro with a Stage 1 Buick Motorsports V6 (approx 252ci) and T76 turbo running low 9's@nearly 150mph. Wonder if that would fit the class.
My old RX-7 powered GN with stock turbo was running mid 11's. I was building a motor to make 750hp with a T-70BB turbo but scrapped the project to go LS1 and roadracing. The car would've gone easy 9's since it only weighed 2810lbs with driver .
I think that class would be cool.... the import cylinder heads flow more on average and their stock crankshafts for the most part are stronger. Probably would be cheaper to build up an import based 4 or 6 banger and be competitive.

First, all engines have to be production blocks. The GN's and turbo TA are not going to be able to compete with aftermarket blocks, and he stock block is only good for 600-700hp at best.
As for the 3.5 cubic inch limit. Well at this level of racing, stock stuff won't do and billet cranks can be made in custom strokes. Remember to keep up with those 2JZ's your going to need at least north of 1500hp to run 180mph with 3100-3300 lbs.
We are going to be in the class next year, if everything lines up. We are mentioned in thread.

One thing about this class is the engine make has to be the same as the car maker.

Yeah its not cheap. We have Ford helping us with the engine program and some other companies have stepped up. Also the cars have to be 25.2 legal for next year, so that in itself is a pain.

so if you have to use a motor that came in the car you are running, are you going to destroke the engine?
Or how do you plan to get around the 3.5 restriction? Im just curious, it seems that even if you did manage to do that, when/if you win, you would be contested and that motor is going to be in and out of the car and torn down an awful lot.
would be fun to try though

Getting down to a considerably lighter weight would be the mountian to tackle in a Camaro, not the engine. Especially if they have to be 25.2. The front ends are fairly heavy.

Ed the engine we are using is a 4.0L I6 from ford. We are having to de-stroke it to 3.5L's to meet the class ruless. Also read the rules carefully. You can use any engine from the same make with 3.5L and 6 cylinders max. So I would go I6 trailblazer motor with a custom crank to 3.5L's. Easily take 1200+hp without breaking a sweat.

See thats what I thought and then i thought i rememberd someone saying it had to be original motor in the car.
that would be awsome to see these cars with these other motors in them making tons of HP.
I wonder how one of those would fit in an F-body, id bet they wouldnt

2.5L stroked SVO motor w/ a Volvo or Esslinger head in a Pinto...
turbo TBlazer I6 in a '66 Chevy II...
What cracks me up is the talk of allowing a 20B (3-rotor), but a 3.8 V6 is outlawed.
What's the rule on fuel? Does it have to be gasoline-based?
