fresh short block or no

fresh short block or no i am planning a procharger build up with an ultimate goal of single digits. using my afr 205's and fast 90/90. my question is do i rebuild my short block with forged internals with a stroker kit , or do i get a fresh short block? what does everyone think
Whatever floats your boat. I do not think you would need a stroker though. If you can handle the down time you can take yours out and be without it for a while, then save your self a few$$$ by using your old block.
This is how I went about it Finally! I have had my vortech kit for like ummm 2 1/2 years. I could have easliy installed it myself. But I always read posts about the ring lands on LS1'S going bad. Then when we put one on my buddies car and it didnt last 3 months. This was on a good tune. I went ahead and got hooked up with some ross pistons,eagle rods,stock crank keyed and replaced all the bearings and supported the mains with arp. IMHO that is the way to do it. I didnt want a stroker plus having to buy a crank was just not in my budget. Good luck with whatever decesion you make.

You might want to search for a good discussion that was going on here about a week ago about the pro's and con's of a forged 346 ci vs. a 408 ci, both low-compression, FI applications. The 346 ci had some surprise advantages not readily apparent. Good stuff.
We have a $4500.00 engine build that includes removing your engine, performing all machine work, polishing the stock crank, adding Callies Compstar rods, Diamond forged pistons, Total Seal rings, Comp Cam of your choice, new oil pump and Comp timing chain plus ARP head studs. Your heads are reinstalled, engine reinstalled in your car and tuned on my Mustang Chassis Dyno.
This is the package that went into the Corvette/twin turbo and the Trans-Am/ATI ProCharger along with the Camaro SS/STS in my project car section. Bob

If your end goal is 9 sec ET's then dont bother with the crank... the reason i say that is because you have alot of parts left to buy.... ie rearend, a trans that will hold the power, fuel system, saftey gear. I know..... im doing it

does anyone know how much it would be if i already had the pistons, rings, cam,rods, oil pump,timing chain , arp head studs. for the machine work and installing these parts?
