The I6 from GM is a nice piece and will make big power, but Ford has set the new mark with their I6. We have one and its AWESOME.

yeah but can you get that in the states?
itd be nice if the companies that are making these badass motors, would actually put them on sale in the states.

People over here are dying to have performance vechicles, and the auto makers are playing it safe, to save their companies

The engine is not available in the US, but we buy them and have them imported.

Default crank stregth?

Also wondering about the strength of the stock crank... are they the same quality design as the LS1-style cranks?! Wish I would have given this more consideration before I started my V8 build..... maybe

I don't have a whole lot. They are still relatively new engines.

Here is a quick video of one running a Skyline GTR down. Not bad for full weight and stock turbo, and he pats the gas twice....hehe

so what kinda turbo would u suggest for the vortec 4200. Somthing not too laggy, but still put down 800 or so hp.

heres the I-6 yall are talkin bout

http://www.inliners.org/cgi-bin/ulti...c;f=3;t=000538

This is the only info i could find out about it:
Sleeved, 3.75" bore vice 3.66
Reworked stock crank
'special' rods, pistons purpose built for the turbo (well, duh!)
plenty of head work- raised exhaust ports (involves welding)
slightly bigger valves
reground cams with Jesel Ecotec followers (Ecotec, aka Saab design), cam phaser not used (timing gears locked, mine won't be)
obviously a hand-made intake and throttle body (Self racing)
a beefed up main girdle
and a decently sized turbo

and made 1300hp on just 20lbs of boost

I would go with a small A/R GT42. A 4.2 has plenty of cubes and is able to spool one quite easy. The engine above is nice and John meaney knows what he is doing when it comes to tuning that thing. BTW, the turbo is a GT47, and at the pump gas drags it layed down some 9.0's@150+.

I have an 02 Envoy and thought a log setup with a T61 with FMIC would work nicely on it and be very easy to package on those trucks

Are you guys still carrying on about that inline Ford engine?

So was Cunningham's wagon's block sleeved? Stock crank? I'm guess no to both.

It's amazing how much information can be absorbed by reading the thread before responding to it.

Nice. I still want to see someone else chronicle a buildup of one.
