I busted my rear
My rearend has been making more and more noise over the last month. I ran my cousin and was ahead of him... but the rear felt REALLY bad, so I backed out of it. I was still able to beat him by four cars (that's what the guys told me) even though I went thru most of the quarter at about 3/4 throttle.
Leaveing the area on the way home, I punched it. Instead of the clunk-clunk sound of two or three teeth missing, I heard a loud POP and I lost all forward motion. I thought the axle broke, but it was hard to tell. The tire didn't walk out even though my brother-in-law towed me about three miles back to his house.
Today, I had to put a sound system in my parents's new church, so couldn't open it up to see what was wrong. But, my brother-in-law and uncle are going to check it for me tomorrow - I have more work to do at the church.
I'm not in a position to ante up $2500+ for a 12-bolt yet, so I'll just be putting in another rear end.
My uncle thinks he knows where a Blazer rearend is and thinks that may work. Do any of you guy know anything about that?
Thanks!

Thanks for the link to the thread.
I'll print it out to discuss with my uncle and brother-in-law.

Get a loan and get the 12 bolt now. Why replace it with something that will surely fallow the same fate. Learn from other peoples experiences. Eveyone that has tried to be cheap made that same mistake. Ive seen a few posts already of people that replace 10 bolts with 10 bolts only to break the new one and end up having to buy a 12 bolt anyway.

You are right, of course.
ALL teeth on the pinion gear were gone, and a few on the ring gear. Everything else in was fine.
I overnighted another R&P. I'll spend $200 for the bandaid now and save for spending $2500 later.
Either I'll bring the tire pressure up in the ET Streets or I'll put my BFGs back on (probably the latter) until I have a 12-bolt.
Right or wrong, that's the call I made.
Thanks for everyone's advice!

Remember what I said about customer support for my GWP/ATI Stage II?
I called Jason and whined a bit about my situation. AFter telling him I wasn't prepared to buy a 12-bolt, he hooked me up with one of his rear-end guys and they overnighted me a ring&pinion. We talked late Friday afternoon and the gear was in boon-docks NC Saturday. It was in Saturday night.
