Default custom turbo kit

alright, I am pretty sure no one makes a turbo kit for a 2001 s-10 xtreme LS1 V-8, so I looking into www.proturbokits.com , they have a great array of products to do it yourself, what will I need to do a big single turbo or twin turbo system?

If your going to make a twin system some sort of merge collector is going to be needed.

youll need flanges(header, turbo, down pipe, wastegate), piping, turbo (lol), some sort of intercooler.

will I need twin intercoolers? I found a company in a magazine I cant remember the site right at this moment that makes piping specifically for custom turbo/supercharger kits, with 90 degree bends to 45 degreee bends and such, im looking at the hks wastegate, and I am thinking about doing two garret gt-40 turbo's rated for 650 flywheel hp each, does this sound like a good start?

if you have twin turbos you do not need twin intercoolers, a single intercooler will work with either a dual inlet or a Y right before the intercooler, however the Y is not preferable.

take this as I mean it, from what you posted it sounds like a decent choice for turbos.

However I am certainly no turbo expert, and you should consult one (expert) to make sure the turbos are sized to your spefic needs, if not the setup wont work as well.

Id call Jose at Forcedinductions, as he knows pretty much all there is to know about turbos

I just got back into the scene recently, and am going the turbo route myself. Read ALOT before you buy. Get this book:

Maximum Boost: Designing, Testing, and Installing Turbocharger Systems by Corky Bell.

I got it at Borders so a big chain like Books a Million should have it on the shelf. You can get it anywhere online. If you gonna roll yer own, this is a good start.

Oh yeah, I hope ya have an Xtreme bottom-end.

If 9's on the bottle is what you are lookin to do then those turbos are gonna be big. Even if ya do it straight boost the are big. 800-900 RWHP will get ya low 9's and that is possible with out any nitrous. Also as you can imagine twins is ALOT more expensive. For the intercooler you definatly wanna get a single front mount. The problem with twins is the compressed air isnt inside the intercooler long enough to get any cooling done as 2 intercoolers are alot smaller then a 1 FMIC. So the intercoolers get heat soaked and become usless till they cool down. GL

No, like he said, 2 of the size you're planning will get you the potential without the spray.

......

2 turbos of the size you are planning will fully support the HP levels needed to go 9s if the rest of the vehicle is up to the task.

Why would it be ugly under the hood?

a nice set of turbo, forward facing headers is automotice art. I do not see where you are saying it will be ugly. Polisht he compressors if you need some more bling.

either way itll be fast
