Default turbo question

Ive got a question. How is it that there are 2 or 3 turbo kits out for the ls1 that work on the camaro and firebird and only cost 4 grand. Is there any way to modify these to work on a vette ls1? What are the differences that prevent us from using these kits instead of the ones they are developing that are going to be 7 g plus

I always figured you would be better off making your own turbo kit(a lot cheaper).Pretty much the only differences in tne kits might be the mandrel bends in the piping and turbo sizes and waste gate. All of these you can get a hold of yourself.Pipng you could get a muffler shop with a mandrel bend machine.Manifolds you may have to buy depending on turbo unless they work on the stock exhaust manifolds, wastegate and some vacuum lines etc...Anyway if you made your own kit you would come out cheaper IMO though. But hey I dont know everything.I pretty much look at it as a turbo, some fancy bent piping, and a wastegate. That should not cost 3-4grand.

You will probably be better off in the long run to spend a few extra bucks on something like the new Turbo Tech twin T28 kit in the first place. That way you won't run into all the "oh by the way"'s of fabricating your own headaches. There is a LOT to consider when designing a turbo kit, and simply piecing together some large diameter piping because it "looks like it flows more" often leads to issues with slow spool or poor efficiency. Not to mention all the little brackets and odds'n'ends you'll need. Those things have a way of adding up.
