Default one good header

don't know if anyone has asked or even tried this
but on a single turbo kit that still uses the stock passenger side exhaust manifold could you replace that with something from the aftermarket?

If you get the Turbotech kit you might as well use the stock manifold if you have a 2000+ ls1. For a 98-99 get a 00+ manifold. I say this because the manifold is not the weak link in the exhaust setup on the single turbo kit. Even Rob Raymers newly designed kit will use a 00+ manifold on the passenger side. On the turbtech kit, the pipe that bolts to the passenger side manifold IS different for 98-99 cars vs 00+ cars so keep that in mind.

i was thinking somthing similar, I sall i shorty header once that "bolts up to the factory y-pipe" so it seemed like it would work. Im sure it would help out a little, for us with 98 or 99's.

Rob has redesigned the turbo side manifold and exhaust and THATS where you and I could see some big gains in HP and spool time. Hope we see pics soon. He said that turbotech guys would be able to retrofit his pieces...

thanks for the replies.
I already have the turbotech 60-1 kit

If the Raymer kit uses a stock piece then I would imagine it's probably the best piece for the job. I figured if you could give one side better flow it would give you somemore power, but would it maybe slow down your spooling time or make the engine run goofy?

Wish I had a better understanding on how these things worked.
