what comes first detonation or bottom end giving out.

Re: what comes first detonation or bottom end giving out.
with an idea of airflow it's gonna take you'll be in the neighborhood of 55 lb/min of air to make 500 RWHP. That's assuming an M6
Trying to stay reasonable w/ the efficiency, and hoping the intake track will let you, you could probably do it on 10 psi. give or take a little.
you can keep it from detonating w/ octane or reduced advance. or a combo of both.
If you keep the tune on the save side for your desired octane level/requirement, i'd worry more about your drive train
The tunning of the LS1 is far from limited
100 octane + 10 psi + 15° + 10.1:1 CR = 62 lb/min of air & 573 RWHP

I vote for Harlan as Highschool Math Teacher of the year. Those silly story problems would have been much more enjoyable with this type of calculation.

Re: what comes first detonation or bottom end giving out.
I was just wondering if i would need a water/alk kit at a certain point, sound like no.
So ill i need to get there is just a good fuel system.
Of couse ill have to up the clutch and rear.
Did you get your system tuned at detrotspeedworks?
Thats were i think im going to get it installed.

You have the Turbo Tech kit right? It's intercooled, no need for water injection unless your cooler in insufficient
did all the tuning on the dyno at speedworks, will be back there in a couple months to tune the new setup too

500 rwhp...8.5 psi....ls6 intake should get you there. I didnt turn my car off at all when i dynod...3 with cutout..3 without and that certainly hurt a little as the pipe leading to the maf heat soaks A LOT. If you could coat it or use some header wrap, that should help. First you need to get the fuel system in order. That gave me more headaches than anything. FUel..fuel and more fuel...plus octane while you are tuning. Lets face it....we aint gonna catch Harlan but we are gonna have alot of fun trying!!!!!!

True very true
maybe a bigger intercooler would help too.
Cable' what is your fuel system config now if you dont mind me asking?
I guess im gonna have to spring for the intake soon

Re: what comes first detonation or bottom end giving out.
im using lucas 38lb injectors...walbro 255lph hi pressure pump....10 gauge wire from tank to a kenne bell boost a pump. I dont think you need the b-a-p....just run the wire to the back of the alternator. I'm also using a holley fuel pressure regulator plumbed in just before the return goes into the tank. Get yourself ls1edit and start tuning. You will eventually find more power in tuning than anywhere else. Get a fp gauge

what comes first detonation or bottom end giving out.
Ok got another question for the experts. \
500rwh+ is what im after. Now say the fuel is there, would i just have to crank the boost and have it tuned properly through a dyno.
Or am i still going to get detonation due to the hot air, high compression ratio and tuning limitations of the ls1.
Or can i just crank it get it tuneed and just worry about the bottom end giving out.
Using a single T-76
