I just installed the Spal 16" Extreme in mine, Ed hasn't installed his yet and still has the ATI 16" fan. We had the two cars side by side on Sunday and couldn't tell a drastic/obvious difference just by putting our hands next to the fan. I thought the Spal felt a little stronger.

Haven't done any before/after temp monitoring, I just know I've overheated a couple of times in hours of traffic on hot summer days. Hopefully the Spal 16" Extreme will help.

I still have the dual 11" Spal fans in the garage, thinking of fabbing up a shroud to mount them up with and trying them out. I can take my time with it now that the car is up and running again with the 16" Spal.

I won't know. I torn up the radiator taking out the fan. Had to order a SLP Radiator.

Well got both the fan and radiator in. Went for a quick drive, temps stayed under 200 on the freeway. Temps rose to 210-215 city driving. But very slowly went down @ idle. The combo seemed to drop the temps overall 10-15 degrees. I will do some more driving later on.....

I agree the Spal extreme 16 flows over 3000cfm, the duel 11's only flow 2730 cfm... The choice is obvious

Default A little off subject

We just got the first prototypes in of a 17" fan that is a little slimmer then the spal extream but carries about 350 more cfm. Also i do not have pricing on this yet but it shouild retail less then the spal extreame.

Which would be the better move? Fan or radiator?
BeCool radiator and dual spal fans...thats what I bought for my T76 383 LTx project. I havent finished the car, so no data, but I bought the cooling setup from an 800hp N2O car...

Hahaha thats the way it goes Ed, always something better coming out. The Spal 16" Extreme we both got will work fine. I have only driven it a couple of times but the temps seem fine.

I will probably put the SLP radiator on order when I get back from Vegas next week.

...keep in mind the single 16" fan pulls air through only about 50% of the radiator. The duals would pull air through closer to 100% of the radiator. It really doesn't matter if you pull 6000 cfm through 50% of the radiator...you can still have temp problems. The ATI shroud blocks off so much of the radiator that about 50% of it is useless and that is why some of us run a little warm.

Hey, where did you get the Spal 16 that fits the ATI fan shroud? How much was it? Thanks

I would have to check the receipt but I think it was close to $300. I bought it from a local offroad shop.

You can buy it direct form SPAL.

Default Spal fan

The price is close to 300.oo bucks. We had a couple of these in the shop the other day so we decided to test the 3000 cfm (free air rating). To be honest with you the performance difference between that and Spal 2300 fan isn't worth the extra cash (my opinion). The blade is about a .25 larger in diameter and it sits below the plastic shroud it is housed within. If you look at the catalog they sell a gasket to go with this which you will need if you are mounting this against the core (not recomended). If you are still set on getting this fan Street & Performance sells them.
