Default planning FI...... recommendations?

i am planning to do a FI setup and am leaning heavily towards the ATI procharger P1 or D1, however there are many of you that LOVE the turbos and I would be open to a turbo setup that is in the same price range but is NOT rear mounted.... that said, are there any turbo setups in that price range that aren't rear mounted and don't require tons of modifications to the engine bay area (basically that aren't any harder than a procharger install)? THIS is a daily driver but I am at college so I only put on 5000 miles a year.......what to do? I have noticed that I can buy a decent used procharger setup for around $3500... suggestions?????

Well, Im biased towards a turbo, but I like the ease of boost change with a turbo setup. I wouldnt take my vote as heavy weight, as I am a GN guy myself.

Turbo for the Win. And it will definatly win. It always does. a turbo with teh same power as a supercharger will win 9 out of 10 races. Assuming all is the same in teh 2 cars. GL

D1 Procharger
I feel is the way to go, less ducting, no need to worry about oil feed lines. If set up and done correctly you have a great daily driver. As you can see from my sig I am making very good power on a stock setup, with few exceptions. Going on 6000 miles with out a problem! 1st belt to boot.

i dont know that i believe this statement or not.... if your looking for an excellent roll racer then turbo is top dog for sure.... however on the track there are many things that have to be accounted for..... 1/8 or 1/4.... 60ft is crucial for 1/8.... if you want or have a transbrake with a 2-step ... needed for turbo.... turbos dont have the drag so yes they can make more power... but with that comes other problems... launching a turbo car takes a very good driver from what I've seen or lack there of driving skills....

either way its horse power so have fun....
I'd like to have a S/C.... less custom fabrication and tends to be cheaper... plus i like the whine and the cammed sound.....

S/C is my winter plan

if you're on a budget a turbo kit is not the way to go.

be sure to have all the supporting mods to get the most out of your setup.

make sure you read up on the old ATI kits as they had a lot of problems.
if you were gonna get a ATI I'd get the new kit as I believe they addressed all the problems they used to have.

In any event, forced induction and budget are like oil and vinegar.

KP is running in the 9's with an ATI ProCharger D-1SC, so don't count out the ProCharger in a turbo vs supercharger thread. If the STS Turbo is out of the picture, the ATI ProCharger is much easier to install than most turbo kits, and will give you all (and more if you want to) the power your stock bottom end can handle. Call us for a super low price quote. Bob
