i dont know that the budget allows for upgrades yet
the word was that the block's not looking good, don't know if useable yet

i know they can do a good job repairing the head, im not worried about that, yea race gas anything over 16# is what i'm thinking

i would love to do the crank, ls2 block, and the cam swap from the other post but i know i can't swing all 3.

thanks todd, ill relay that message.. i know i don't have too much room on the fuel system..but it all did check out before i raced it... and as far as AFR the target was about 10.7:1

the motor was @ 8:1, timing (with no spark retard) was set at 18, intake temps would have been around 90*

it sounded like the crank and the rods looked ok, but were going in to get checked out anyway.

the runs weren't at 16psi, they were at 22, and i was probably making over 900 something at the tires, can't really say. all i can say about the rest is that doing one pull on the dyno and a couple gears on the street is completely different than a full 1/4 pass as far as piston temperature goes... obviously... i was one of them.

jim, i use visa, and thank goodness my engine didn't run my anywhere near 10k... but i am fully understanding of your point.... now

Time to upgrade your BS3 to staged injection?

Best of both worlds. Cruise on 93 octane with race fuel on demand.

-edit- Now that I think about it, getting 16 injectors in an LS1 intake would be tough. Probably have to go to sheetmetal.

No prob man...you might also consider an FJO wideband setup with dual channel option and run a wideband sensor for each side. There may be a way you can set it up to control boost or decrease boost if the A/F starts getting lean. I nkow the TT kit basically runs on a single exahust set up, so not really sure what a good option is.

Does BS3 not have the option to monitor A/F and control boost with A/F as a criteria?

MightyMouse, you did the top of the rod bearings have any signs detonation? That damage looks like sustained detonation, not just getting it hot. I've killed a motor on my supra due to sustained detonation and that was what it looked like. The bearings usually tell the story though.

Sorry to see it happen man. Thank you for posting the pics though.

ya i would love to have a separate 'WOT' race gas tank.. the implementation i have to work on.

thanks john, im accepting donations on deezuns@paypal.com

reckless, i was told to not put o2 sensors before the turbo, so i have my one after... another good idea i will forward to john is about moving boost with AFR but i don't recall it.

zombie, what you see is what i see.. from what kurt told me the bearings looked like they were 'ok' and then had peices of pistons sent across them... so maybe that is more like a lean situation then detonation?

A friend of mine (wolverine-sure you've heard of him) recommended to me to NOT run methanol cause he said when you're detonating you cannot tell. He said he melted all 8 forged pistons. net loss approx $7000.00

Yikes, sorry to see it went out in a blaze of glory MM.

Best wishes for a speedy rebuild. Time for some forged slugs and rods to hold that 22psi !

Cheers,
Rob (Bad30th)

I ran Meth with my old setup and now with the new. The problem is the fuel he is using. Only takes one bad fill up to kill a motor, heads, and turbo. I run 24-25psi @ 18* with 104 or 110 while spraying Meth and have had no issues at all.

Dave, I'm sure W2W will get ya fixed up in no time. Good luck.

The extent of the damage to me, looks like it was really lean or the meth ran out. I don't know what the sitiation was, but that looks like a motor would after trying to run 22 psi on only pumpgas. That sucks, good luck man.
