Default Ok, I think it's been long enough..

for people to have dabbled with trial and error. Enough people have turbo setups (preferable T-60's for numbers.. but any will do). What is the stock blocks (I'm talking bone stock) boost limit?

Now, I'm talking safe boost limit. Anyone can boost 10lbs and run for 20 minutes.

Myself, I'm sticking around 5-6psi for safety's sake. With nothing more than an ECU, Fuel Pump and injectors as upgrades -- I would be afraid to go any further.

Although, I am desperately anticipating Harlan's 2-Step

Assume the turbo will be a T-60 on a 2002 LS1, running 92 octane pump gas. No mods, whatsoever. Stock ECU, stock timing, stock stock stock.

well

My progress was as follows

initial install and tune, 3800 injectors. 5 psi was fine w/o adjustment. 6.5 required 2° less timing at 4800. got 460rwhp and 480 rwtq. pump gas

Retune for 8 psi on pump gas in july. hair under 500 RWHP

Upgrade to SVO 42's

from there, i started running a mix of 110 and 94 all the time. turned the wick up w/o tuning changes. ran 10 to 12 daily. 570 RWHP/615 RWTQ

stock longblock, 26k miles of boost. 40k on the motor.

upon tear down, the only obvious signs of abuse where the middle 2 cylinders on each side. I had on occasion run 13 to 15 psi with more octane. no detonation, but out of injector and fuel pump.

http://harlan.sketchy.net/teardown/

check out the partial blow by on the gaskets in the middle cylinders. lifted the heads a bit

No PCM program, no fuel pump? Wow, I didn't think the LS1 would react very favorable at 5psi w/ a PCM program.

When you "retuned" for 8psi, the only thing you did was "retune" the current setup? What did the retune consist of, PCM?

Right now, I'm at 3psi. I dynoed 437RWHP/451RWTQ. That was bone stock, not a single upgrade. I was leaning out a bit at the top (see dyno: http://www.laker.net/magnus/tta/ttadyno.jpg), so I installed a Walbro 340lph Intank pump. That seems to have fixed it for the most part (haven't dynoed yet, though). My goil is 5-6psi, but I won't go above 3psi w/o a PCM reprogram, and larger injectors -- I just can't convince myself it'll hold.
