Ideal sized turbo for a single turbo application What turbo would be ideal for producing a peak of 600rwhp on a stock ci motor? Idealy I would like to see a quick spool time, but I realize you have to sacrifice one for the other in certain circumstances. I have heard that Rob Raymer was going to use a Buick PT88 onm his car, but I dont know about a turbo that big. Would the T76 that comes with the Turbo Tech kit suffice? I am planning on building a stock crank, forged piston/rod stock ci motor next year and forcing 12psi max through the motor. Any suggestion is appreciated, thanks for your time.

Re: Ideal sized turbo for a single turbo application I have kind of the same plan. The T-76 will support up to 30psi of boost on a stock displacement LS1 (according to my math and formulas in my turbo book) and stillbe efficient. Now I heard that there maybe be some lag because the T-76 has a higher rotating mass and may take longer to spool up, but with tuning it will work well.

Re: Ideal sized turbo for a single turbo application The T-76 is a good size for 600RWHP @ 12-15 psi, the turbo spool up time should be fairly short and it should be a good match for a stock CID engine.

Re: Ideal sized turbo for a single turbo application My T-76 spools in no time, im realy not to wooried about that since a meaty 5.7 v-8 is pushing it instead of a whimpy 3.0.
I saw a Supra dyno graph that made an amazing 800rwhp, but the torque curve was awful.
It didnt make over 300/rwt till it hit 4500 rpms, then jumped up to 700rwt real fast by 5700 rpm, That Wasted rpm range was rediculas.

Re: Ideal sized turbo for a single turbo application i am most likely using the pt63 on robs kit to get 600 rear wheel on my daily driver.. even less spool time.. and it supports 750 flywheel. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
