Both a SC and a turbo should spin easily and not show any binding. I would also look for kits that have been poorly 'massaged' into place with a hammer.
I'm not sure how much money you'll save here but I'm not sure it wouldn't be worth it to save a little more and get a brand new setup.

There's always the chance that you'll get someone else's grenade, or grenade waiting to happen. When that happens, what did you really save????

I was selling my complete kit and the guy that is buying is saving a crap load of money and time. So it really depends, like Delta said you could get a grenade or you could get a great deal. The best bet is to buy from a member that had a good name on here I would think.

I bought mine used, no problems. Just make sure the person your buying it from has a decent number of posts, and go with your gut. Also making it as local of a purchase as possible is good, so you can inspect everything before buying.

Post count means nothing, there are a lot of people who post ***** just to bring their count up.

I bought a used Procharger D1 kit here from a user who had very little posts. No one would buy his kit because of the low post count. So I got a great deal on it.....so it worked out in my favor.

Ask the seller to get pics of everything, if they want to sell it they will be more than happy to do that. Check their previous posts to see if they talk about any troubles they had with the kit/unit/turbo....etc. If you are able, physically check the stuff in person.

Good luck!

i havnt bought a high dollar set used...but i did buy a midgrade turbo setup a few years ago and wish i hadnt. It was advertised as a rebuilt turbo, coated hot pipes, etc. I got a bunch of junk..turbo was hosed, piping was painted. Now, that prolly isnt the case these days. Just know who you are dealing with.

I agree, it's the seller you have trust more than anything. You have to not only trust the sellers discription of what you're buying, but also that the seller isn't going to take your money and run.

I've had to go "get" money back from people trying to screw me twice now over the internet. The first time it took me a couple weeks to find him, a couple thousand miles of traveling, and a lot of his blood to get my money back (no joke). Sad it had to come to that, I'm sure he'll regret it for the rest of his life.

Just make sure you can trust the seller.

BTW, same goes for vendors. We've seen a couple of them fold with peoples money as well (and I can think of at least one which I suspect is about to do it).
