Knock Sensor with Block Filler - any change?
Knock Sensor with Block Filler - any change? I'm running a GM LT4 knock sensor in my Vortech-blown, intercooled 383. I have it connected to a J&S Safeguard Knock Controller. I get some reported knock under low levels of boost but never see any signs of it on the plugs.
I'm wondering if the fact that I did a short fill of Hard Blok when I built the motor is making a difference in knock reporting - any ideas? I figure since the water jacket is half full of concrete, and the port where you screw in the knock sensor is plugged by block filler, I might get a completely different knock frequency or profile.
This is not a problem yet, though the Safeguard pulls out timing when it responds. It is possible I still have the Safeguard sensitivity too high, but I want to be cautious before I turn it too far down.

Knock sensors depending on type are tuned to certain frequency range. Now if block type (thickness, mass or material properties, location…) changes the resonance and amplitude will also shift. It is possible you may have a false trip but more info is needed.
