Default 12psi of boost on stock crank?

How strong is the stock GM crank? Will it take 12psi of boost and will it be reliable? I will buy new pistons and rods however, I want to know if I will be wasting my money on a new crank?

I've heard the stock crank can take alot of abuse. They've been tortured in some 600+rwhp nitrous cars and are fine. Boost is alot friendlier on the crank than nitrous anyway.

The rods are actually pretty good also. It's the rod bolts that are the problem. That and the pistons. If your in the motor you might as well replace them though.

If your planning on buying a forged stock stroke crank you will be wasting your money. IMO

Most super build ups that keep stock cubes use the stock crank

I've yet to see one post about a failed stock crank...ARE even posted that on a 700rwhp N2o car the staock crank was fine.

I am planning to run 10 psi D1SC. So if I replace the stock rod bolts, this should keep the bottom end together? The cam I will be using is good for 1400-6300 so I don't plan on spinning beyond 6500. What do you think?

FWIW, we made 707rwhp/730rwtq with a stock crank at 15lbs of boost.

After numerous 10.0 runs, we pulled the motor apart and the crank and bearings showed virtually no wear.

I used a stock crack with forged everything else. No problems with over 600RWHP at all.
The crank is the strongest part of the LS1. Actually the strongest thing in the whole damn F-body!!

crank and rods are good, real good.
Pistons however are total junk and not worth a wooden nickle for n20/boost.
I cracked a couple of my 98's in 1/2 removing them from the rods. They crack like glass, no kidding <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Replace them and keep the rods/crank unless you have spare jing burning a hole in your pocket.
