Default BOV flutters when I let off the gas

I put a Apex BOV on my camaro instead of the stock surge valve supplied by ATI. When I let off the gass it makes a fluttering noise like the valve is opening and closing really fast. I thought tightening down the adjusting screw would fix it but its almost all the way down and it still does it. It might not be as bad but its still pretty bad. Should I tighten it all the way or what is the problem?

You need BOTH the surge valve and the BOV for your system to operate properly

the reason that turbos can get away with just a BOV is because they aren't making boost all the time, its load dependant

whereas with a blower you are always making boost and a little BOV cannot keep bypassing all that air

HENCE

you have a bypass valve......that will allow all the extra air to be bypassed and when you get into boost and let out, both the BOV and the bypass valve will open and it should do the job for ya and shouldn't "flutter"

I was actually thinking about hooking up the surge valve along with it. I cant just take the BOV off because theres a hole in my airbox now. Is there another vaccuum source I can tap into other than the one on the passenger side in front of the PCM?

Well the following information is based on a standard type pressure relief valve used to prevent over pressure of test systems. The only time we see flutter of the valves is they are "over sized" i.e to big its called "chattering the valve". Basically the valve can out flow the supply and closes then the system catches up and it opens again. If the valve does this to much it will damage the seat and then will leak all the time. A BOV is actuated by vacuum correct? The fluttering could be reduced (most likely) by putting a small orifice in the vacuum source line, but this would reduce its reaction time which would be bad.
