Default Plastic Plenum box on ATI kit, WTF

well I got my ati kit yesterday and everything is cool except the plenum box is made out of plastic. I think they should of made the tubing out of stainless instead of powercoated steel and they should of used silicone hoses. I think i might buy the polished plenum(aluminum) box or see if they will trade me. other than those two little things I will say the kit is really nice. I ordered it from Performancepartsoutlet.com for 4377.00 for the complete kit. they were the cheapest I found on the net and i have been looking for 6 months

The piece at the inlet of the compressor is called the "Inlet Hat", and is made of what looks like ABS plastic.

BTW, ABS plastic is a class of plastics based on acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymers.

How much extra is the polished one? I think I should probably skip the plastic one, soudns that way at least.

Unless ATI is doing something different, the Black Inlet Plenum (fits about where your Induction sits now) is metal, not plastic.

The Inlet Hat down by the compressor is black ABS plastic. I never heard of it being polished.

What's the big deal if the Inlet Plenum were plastic, anyway? Your Induction piece is plastic.

If you want a polished Inlet Plenum, that's fine... pay the extra money. But, it would be no sin if they made it of plastic... that would just be following the stock format.

Mike he never really clarified what part he was talking about. I hope he didnt order the polished plenum thinking he's going to get a polished intake hat. I dont know how much replacement plenums are but if its an extra $140 to upgrade your black metal one to a polished one then I bet they're pretty spendy. I've never heard of a metal intake hat but I thought that was kinda screwy when I got my kit. Everything else is metal and then you get this plastic thing for the front of the compressor. WTF?

Im talking about the intake plenum (the one on top or the radiator). I know that all the intake hats are plastic. I know plastic matchs everything else under the hood but im going to do something special. Im going to use Mastercam and program the Procharger logo so i can use my CNC mill to mill it on the top of the plenum box. Pics will be up soon. Its going to look kick ***!

camarogod98 is correct, they are now made of plastic. I stopped and looked twice during our last ATI install. One of the techs even asked "what happened to the plenum?".

Well, this does and doesn't pertain here, but i have the polished intake plenum, and am changing my ATI setup, so if anyone wants it, and is willing to wait till this winter, i'll probably be selling it.
