Default Used turbo kit, any problems???

I have the chance to pick up a used turbo tech stage one turbo kit for pretty cheap. Should I be worried about anything other than the turbo if I buy this kit?

From what I have read I should expect about 450 RWHP out of this kit on my stock car. What about 1/4 mile times and MPH, anyone have any expirence with that?

thanks! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

only expect that output with proper tune and fuel improvements, definitely not getting that on stock tuning and injectors. you will want to invest in a set of injectors, a good fuel pump like the walbro 340, and ls1 edit to tune.

just ask for a lot of pictures, look for anything to be severly bent or smashed etc. you also may want to have the turbo inspected/rebuilt possibly before putting it on the car.

Hmmm, so what would be reasonable from a conservative tune on a stock fuel system. Its a local guy selling the kit, he put 440 to the wheels with no tuning and stock fuel system. He also blew up the motor so I don't want to follow in his footsteps.

The guy had the turbo rebuilt, drove it to the dyno and blew up the engine, so the turbo is pretty much brand new.

A big factor is deciding to do/not do this is where I live. The elevation here is 5,000 feet above sea level. Most relatively stock LS1's here struggle to break into the 13's cause of the elevation. I am under the impression that the turbo will help to compensate for the altitude.

Any more info/idea's would be great.

Thanks.

I picked up a used turbo kit and it worked out well. Just make sure you now all the missing parts. like power streering lines, alt relocation bracket washer resivor tank, little things that can add up he may or may not have.

that 440rwhp was elevated i bet due to he was pushing it, then blew it. think octane and timing. On my kit with stock engine i made 385/430 (mustang dyno) with 94 octane and 5psi of boost. I had the T-76 turbo, so if you get the T-60 it will be more efficiant in that boost range.
