Default pulley size & PSI ratings???

Does pulley size really mean your getting published PSI rating. No, it doesn't. I've got a P1SC, and its an old 4psi kit. My boost gauge reads at max spool 2.5 psi. Now here is my question. If I were to get a 7 psi pulley, I'd probably be running 5.5 psi or so. Does that mean I'd have to upgrade my fuel injectors and so forth? The ati kit (5psi) on the market doesn't recomend any injector changes. Anyway, the lost psi from the blower is due to holley intake, mac headers, no kats, and other Mods. Please help blower experts! Can I jump up to the 7psi pulley and keep fuel system stock? Oh yea, I do have a after market fuel pump > it came with 4psi kit. Thanks....

but providing your not getting belt slip, you are getting the published airflow, with free flowing intakes, and exhaust, and cam overlaps, you might not see all the boost, but you should still see the power.

And yes, i woudl upgrade the injectors, if you want to go to a smaller pulley.

Ryan.

My belt is fine. ATI psi ratings are for stock cars. Does anybody else understand what I'm asking? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Yes, but you should listen to Ryan. He might ask if anyone understands what he's talking about. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Nothing wrong with going with a smaller pulley to get more boost on the gauge. Just make sure you address your tune and fuel system.

Did you dyno before/after?

PSI is a measure of resistance of the engine actually using the air. The easier the engine pumps the air the less the PSI measured in the intake. Putting the smaller pulley on will increase the airflow through the engine, to the point that you will need upgraded injectors. In other words you could get 20 PSI out of the engine by simply sticking rags in the exhaust tips, but that wouldnt make any power because it isnt moving air freely. Hope this helps.

Thanks cdk4219! Thats the answer that I was looking for. I was not sure how the lost boost (on the gauge) was being accounted for. If that makes sence. The towel scenario explains lots. Thanks for the help guys!
