6psi of boost and NOS on a stock bottom end (LT1)
I have a stock bottom end other than bearings(fm)for the crank and studded mains. Im running 6 psi of intercooled boost. And i was wondering if adding a 50 shot of NOS. would help cool my intake charge and give me allitle extra kick. Well i know it will, what i am asking is do you guys think the bottom half of the motor can handle the
NOS and 6 PSI of boost. Thanks for the help

The bottom end stregth will be preportional to the Horsepower you put out.
as long as you have a good tune also, if that is there your bottom end should hold up for a while. you have to make an estimate on how much power that it could hold.

In that case how much horse power will the bottom end hold. I think my car will be putting out around 500 horse. But im not sure. With some NOS i was hoping to put out around 600. What are your thought on the motor handeling that much power??

He's got a LT1 not a LS1. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
96SCTA - I don't know a much about LT1's, sorry. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I think pistons are the biggest problem with boosted LT1's but, like I said I don't know much about them. I was going to buy a 94-96 Impy before and had done some research but, that info has long since gone away. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: 6psi of boost and NOS on a stock bottom end (LT1)
Thanks for the input. I guess i will just have to wait and find out the hard way. Ill get a few thousand miles on the newly built motor before adding any NOS. I wish i could have had the extra 4 grand to build the botom end properly. All i know is that 500 + horse power is got to put alot of strain on the pistons. If any one has done this allready on a stock bottom end i would love to talk to them
thanks
thanks

A buddy of mine has a 97 Ws6 with an LT1. At 11,000 miles it got a SVC 475 package done to it. The package consists of a 6lb vortech super charger, ported heads, and full exhaust. The car put 501 to the wheels. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
At 16,000 miles he added a NX 100 shot. To this day (24,000 miles) he hasn't had a problem. But he doesn't drive it very much. He's only been through about 2 1/2 bottles since he got the juice. Still though, he doesn't have any probelms.
