Default 9th injector? Harlen, anyone...

my injectors are maxed, they are 41lb@58psi and this is in a truck wich has special small injectors, 41lb is the largest injector they make that will bolt right in. some guys have made the standard fbody injector work by modifying the fuel rail and wiring in new pigtails but i have an idea i want to pass by you guys before i spend another $500 on injectors.

i have 2 whipple injectors that are i no longer use, they spray right before the intake, could i hot wire one of these to open at WOT, adjust my power enrichment not to start untill basicaly WOT and then adjust fuel under the PE vs RPM till the air fuel ratio looks good? what problem might this cause?

The Incon TTT guys (the ones that got complete kits, anyway <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ) are doing something like that, aren't they. Run it by them.

Id feel safer upgrading the injectors, since intakes arnt desinged to flow liquids.
YOu could try propane injection. adds high octane fuel in vapor form.

What about upping your fuel pressure? If your pump can take, it is one easy method to get more out of your injectors.

How about a Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump to get more out of your current fuel pump?

I have one for sale. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

my fuel pump wont keep up with the 41's now, i will be doing something about that soon but i don't think more fuel presure is the answer for me, i am all ready at 62psi. so it looks like i should go to the effort of making the right sized injectors fit. i can do that, others have done it so i guess i can too.

hey JAS, i made you an offer <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> , it's the best i can do unless you can show me it is a 40a unit.

Sounds like you have the fuel system maxed out so upping the pressure may not be an option. I am assuming you are using some method of FI, maybe a whipple charger? If you are using FI the 9th injector (or the in the case of Incon the 9th and 10th injector) isn't a great idea but it can be made to work. The danger was mentioned earlier, the intake manifold is designed to flow air, not liquid fuel. If you decide to go with additional injectors, the tune is going to be really important. You need to have the RPM up when the extra injector(s) open so there is a great deal of air moving through the intake when the extra fuel is added. If there was some way to control the extra injectors based on what your current fuel set-up can handle that would be the best way to set it up. Say your fuel syatem maxes out now at 7 lbs. Try to have the extra injectors open at 5 lbs or so. WOT activation wouldn't be good cause you greatly increase the danger of puddling the fuel in the intake. I.e... If you open the extra injector at 2,000 RPM in a zero boost scenario, follow me?

You best option is to bite the bullet and go with a bigger set of injectors. Its sucks, but it is a by far better way to get accomplished what you are trying to do.

Propane injection would help to prevent the detonation caused by a lean condition, but would not help to cure your fuel issues. IMO, you need the propane after you get the fuel squared away.

Not two many of the Incon stage II people use the extra injectors, bad way of doing it. Plus a lot of the kits that werent delivered were stage IIs. I have a stage II and would definetly not use the two extra injectors.

Propane CAN help with the fueling. It is an excellent fuel source.

A user in this forum richened his AFR mixture by more than a point on his supercharged LS1. That's not a TENTH of a point, that was a full point.

I don't think relying on the propane to provide the right AFR is a good idea.

Propane burns differently than gasoline. It also leaves behind different chemicals. I think the "leftovers" from a propane burn may produce a richer signature to a wideband that what is actually the case. In other words, the propnae might be fooling the wideband into thinking things are richer than they are. I dunno though, just something to think about.
