Default Dyno'ed today not too great....

We'll heres my numbers
443rwhp/500rwtq @6.5psi
I thought I had the belt slip problem addressed with the gatorback, but nope she could only eek out 6.5psi max and then fell to 5psi by 5000rpm and didn't get any better to 6600rpm.This is not the 9psi it should be making. We tightened the belt down more and then more but it kept on slipping.
Time to go down to a 35.5in or save for a cog. I hope to have this problem solved by saturday. We will be dynoing it again then.
The dyno guy does primarily mustangs and was shocked to see how much slack the belt had even after we tightened it down compared to what he sees on mustangs. He said go to a cog or a bigger crank pulley. But as of now I am broke and disappointed.

Are you sure that the problem is with belt slippage? Not saying it isn't, but you could also check your hoses and clamps. With my P1-SC, I couldn't get it over 5psi, on a 10# kit for a month.. I thought the same thing. Once I added worm clamps to the hoses it saw 8.5 psi immediately. Just a thought. Good luck!

Thanks guys,
Yeah the numbers aren't bad but not what I was expecting. I will be going over everything carefully to make sure that the problem doesn't lie elsewhere.
The dyno guys was real positive that it was belt tho. Belt dust was there at the beginning of the runs.

Thats the range I wanted to be in. 510-525hp.
I wish I had more of a LS1 community over here in my city that we could pour over the numbers and stuff like that but its just me and LS1tech.
I have the 3.2pulley on now. I was seeing 9psi when I went to the 36in belt, but today on the dyno 6.5 to 5psi at the end of the run. Should I go with a 35.5in. Would this be straining the SC too much by being so tight?
I checked my hoses and all are tight and the clamps look good. The BOV isn't opening when going WOT , I went under the car during one of the runs like a crazyman but I had to see if the BOV was open under boost. I'm glad the engine held together.
Sad thing is with my old Powerdyne@5psi intercooled it made 428rwhp/461rwtq.
Well time to figure it out. I will get it sooner or later, nothing comes easy with this car. The dyno guy was saying I should've bought a mustang and it would be running 9's by now. mustangs

frcefed98 (J), the dyno guy is way biased, i call on that little mustang in the 9's statement. With help and more $$, but no way can i see that when we have 03' Cobras running on 11psi here and they dyno about what you did with only the 6.5, actually i think they were less. And in a mustang with the average driver thats no a quick combo, too much power, too short wheelbase.

Not sure, bu check the tension on the belt with a guage, or measure the flex, compare to recommended amount. You are right to worry about too tight adn burning bearings.

Good-Luck, Charlie.

Those are good "baseline" numbers, get the problems sorted out, then you will have a monster...

Don't worry about what the Dyno guys says...

I think I found most if not all of the problem today. I started the car this morning and heard a loud knocking noise coming from under the hood and I thought SHI+! I knew my motor was toast, but upon closer inspection I could see my ATI crank pulley had worked itself loose. WHEW!
After work I climbed under the car and tightened the MFing crap out of it and threw a big dab of threadlock on the bolt(forgot to do that the first time) adjusted the belt and all is good. Now time to let the threadlock dry overnight and do a boost test in the morning.

Yeah thats what I figure about the dyno guy. He is cool and all and knows his crap about FI and tuning but he just won't help me out with the car, it's just not the right brand. I had to drag him under the car to help me get the belt adjusted to what he thought was good.

Hopefully this has got the problem taken care of if not the search goes on.

I'm assuming your in Albuquerque. If you need ls1 help, call sean at solid technology. He just got an ls1 and is very smart with cars.

Chris at that dyno is a very nice guy.

I assume those were corrected numbers. What were the real numbers?

Nick V
how's the lil red import beast you drive doing?
368/417 uncorrected. Real numbers BTW? Corrected is as real as they come. Point? Chris even does the dynorun with the corrected graph on the display.
This is with the converter unlocked and belt slipping.
Chris is great but never said anything less about him never have never will, he will always have his sticker proudly displayed on my ride.
Read the above post where I said he is a cool guy and know his stuff .......
I did say I didn't like mustangs but he already knows it
You still in cali? I heard you went 11.0 thats awesome.
I see you on this board every once and awhile, you getting a LS1 soon?
Time to head to the dyno drags that are on for today/ anthony dixon has his turbo mustang over there, it made something like 750rwhp Corrected last time I have to see that thing on the dyno.

I just like the uncorrected numbers, since thats what the cars making in Albuquerque.

I wish I could afford an ls1. Till then I'll stay with the talon.

Nick, Cool deal I don't see why you would want to get rid of that car its dam fast.
The dyno drags were pretty cool, lots of mustangs making good power. We didn't run it because my belt is still slipping. We did see a mustang tear off out of the parking lot and jump the median into oncoming traffic and miss three cars before jumping back over the median and speeding off. That was cool.
LS1 get a LT1 if money is short and do what Neal(pnykilr) and my bro are doing. 396 strokers. My bro will be running a T trim vortech@15psi and Neal will be running N20 in the 250hp shot range

Do you have a solid tensioner yet? That will help keep belt tension too. Katech has them for like $120.

i had that problem and was going through 1 belt every 2weeks because of slipping until i used the dressing stuff.

Frcefed 98, Hi. Glad to see someone else here doing ls1 to. Besides the usual (neil, soliari, etc...). This is Sean with soid-technology. Im sure you have heard of me, if now just ask Terry about the best boom on the dyno. I just bought an ls1 and will be doing these cars also, along with the eclipse/talon,honda, etc.. other 4 cylinders. I am an experienced mechanic and have a very good understanding of FI and tuning since I am the only other person here that does it and has a wideband. Except for the dyno edge. And i am not biased aginst vehicles, just thier drivers (mostly mustang people). LOL. HOpe to hear from you.

White 2K2
in regards to Katechs tensioner.
For the stock accessory drive it's a good thing especially with the PD, but I have the ATI now and its driven off its own belt and has its own tensioner set up but thanks for the heads up.

Dirty,
man thanks for always giving me good info I will be heading out to get a 35.5 today. You helped me when I was seeing belt slip with the 7psi pulley and I followed your advice and bam 7psi and the car was pulling like a train. With the 35.5 is it too tight or is there still room to tension the belt down a bit?

Sean@ solid, I haven't heard about you but a have seen a post a few days back from you. Me and neal will head down there to say whats up. I could really use a person who knows their tuning to help me out. I am glad to hear about the bias. I am cool to deal with and interested in any car that does the time. You can email me @jsbird98@comcast.net or jsbird98@aol.com
Thanks for the offer on the tuning help I will be taking you up on it.
