Default Need help with a procharged Z06

Hi, I have a friend with a 03 Z06 vette, I've sold him a stage 1 Procharger (p-1sc), he wants more power!!! I spoke to procharger and they didn't recommend that we go with a smaller pulley (it'll throw a rod ) but from what I understand there's guys running methanol injection and a smaller blower pulley making 550+ to the wheels. I had his car on the dyno, after realizing his belt had backed off we ended up with 485rwhp. Is the stock tensioner really that bad? Who has a fix for it? So does anyone know what pulley to go with, right now he 's seeing about 6 psi and I think the pulley is 4"5/8 but I'm not 100% sure, we're not looking for a **** load more boost maybe another 2 psi. Any help would be much appreciated! thanks

Id be skurred of throwing a rod on stock internals. I wouldnt push the boost much further, just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply, he'd be happy with 550 rwhp and I'm trying to get him tp upgrade his tb and intake but that won't pick up that much! Are the bottem ends on the LS6 that weak? It won't handle 8-9 psi?

Thanks, that web site seems to have some cool stuff! Procharger isn't too helpful when it comes to tech questions! Thanks for the help!

We normally set our customer's ProChargers up for 8 psi. Your friend most likely has a 4.5" pulley. The next step smaller is a 4.25", which is what I would go with.

New belts always stretch and require adjusting the tension after the first half hour of use.

Did you upgrade the fuel pump, add larger injectors and get a dyno tune? Bob

Heh Bob, thanks for the reply! Yes we did upgrade the injectors (came with the kit) and did tune it on the dyno (the procharger tune was way off!) however we didn't upgrade the fuel pump (any recomendations?)
As for adjusting the belt, we had adjusted it after the break in period and yet it backed off again?? I think the car is making great power and a relativly safe tune but the customer wants more! I'm trying to convince him to put some sticky tires on the car and maybe then he'll feel the power that it's making! I'm not too sure about the pulley size, my customer had phoned me with the dimensions....thanks for the info, you're stearing me in the right direction. Do you stock the 4.25 pullies and also is there any tuning available for a 98 ls1 vette with a procharger other then ls1 edit? ( I have another customer interested)

We mainly use the Holley/Walbro pn#12-914 forced induction fuel pump, but we have also used an assembly that we picked up over at Lingenfelters that is a complete drop in deal, that worked very well. I wouldn't add anymore power without at least adding a Boost a pump.
I just sent out me last 4.25 pulley that I had in stock today. I need to place another order for some more pullies.
HP Tuner has a nice program for $500.00 that works very well. Bob

Sounds like there is more left in the tune
We just did another 02 Z06 yesterday. All stock except a A+A P1 setup. 7lbs of boost, made 550rwhp SAE with A/F at 11.5-1 and timing at 12 degree's up top.500rwhp ussually isn't a problem with a Z06.Sounds like another issue like belt slip ect.

Yeah, you could hear the belt slip on the dyno and at upper rpm the boost would drop off! I was hoping to see it make over 500 to the wheels but it didn't so back to the drawing board!

Thanks for the info, let me know when you get some more pullies in! Do you think the fast intake and a 90mm tb will give him 20 extra hp?

Will do. The Fast 90mm intake and a Nick Williams 90mm throttle body would indeed probably add 20 extra hp. Bob

No I don't, the last I checked Scoggin-Dickey was sitting on quite a few Nick Williams throttle body's, even though they are not listed on their website. Bob
