Default Anyone have 60-1 Turbo Dyno Results?? 68-1 Phyiscal Size?

I'm just looking at the 60-1 Compressor Map and it looks like an LS1 above 5200rpm would REALLY fall off the compressor efficiency map in a big way above 5200rpm's.

Does anyone have dyno results of a Turbo Tech 60-1 kit showing rpm's from 5000-6500?? I know one C5 kit is having very similar problems with a 62-1 at the same rpm range. I don't show either of these turbos is big enough.

Also, does anyone have data comparing the physical sizes of the 60-1, 62-1 and most importantly the 68-1? If the 68-1 has the same dimensions, it could solve the problem.

Thx!

MIGHTYMOUSE:
Thanks for the perfect data!

So would you agree like I proposed that the 60-1 and 62-1 are way out of their efficiency above 5200rpm's and the power falls off quickly as the heat increases due to poor efficiency of the compressor up top on the LS1?

Looks like your dyno fell off just like the small 62-1 Turbo is doing for the C5 guys. I've plotted the compressor map and things go bad on these small turbos after 5200rpm on the LS1.

i agree, it can make the boost, but it REALLY has to spin and as you can see my iat's got very hot (50* temp increase)considering the relatively low boost I was running at the time

MIGHTYMOUSE:
True. I'm learning more about plotting graphs on the efficiency maps.

Even when spinning these little turbo's higher, with our 346cid airflow requirements on the X-axis, higher boost will push the X-axis out and we'd still be way off to the right of the efficiency map. You'd have to have a smaller engine to spin that high.

Talked to turbonetics today. They don't have the 68-1's on the shelf anymore, but they can make them and they are the same size as a 62-1. Sounds like a great solution for the tight space C5 kit.

MelloYellow - Here are some nice pages that deal with turbo sizing, compressor maps, intercooler specs sizing, and power output.

Turbo sizing

Power output formula accurate??
http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/airflow.php

Turbonetics catalog - comp. maps, intercooler info.

Makes for some interesting reading and combo dreaming. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
