Default Spal fans with ATI?

For those that have used Spal fans with your ATI installs, where did you get them, what size did you use, push or pull style, thinline or high performance model???? Part number would be great.

Anyone know how many CFM our stock LS1 units do?

Thanks...Alex

Guys, when I get home tonight I'll see if I can get model numbers off of my dual SPAL set-up. They are pull style, SLP manual controlled, and PCM controlled too.

They pull TONS of air - it almost feels like your car is gonna creep forward when you turn them on high.

If you are using the dual 11" puller setup, the part number should be 30100846 if I am not mistaken. The specs show that they pull 2780 CFM. How was the fitment? Any cooling issues? I am in Texas you know...

Thanks....Alex

i thought the same thing when i read the cfm rating, but i guess they flow them different (maybe through a radiator as opposed to free flow.) cause i saw a set in action and belive me , they move ALOT of air.
oh and the guy that had them on his camaro is in AZ!!

With model numbers this time >> I have two SPAL fans on my car, both are model number VA06-AP6-37A (12 volt).

They fit very well, but it's tight on the D1-SC side as you might imagine. They are wired in to my factory wiring, plus the SLP manual fan control.

It isn't just disconnecting the factory units and plugging these in - you have to redo that harness and fab an assembly that goes across the top of the radiator to hold them in place.

I can't even describe how much air these move compared to the factory units. With no CFM ratings, I would compare them like this >>

1. Factory = Yeah, that's moving some decent air

2. Dual SPAL = Holy S*#!, this thing might take off!!

I never tried the single ATI fan since my installer (FFP, Yuba City CA) advised against it in favor of his SPAL solution.

Cheers,

Mike M

Mike,

So you are saying you have two separate fans, not a dual fan setup? Spal sells both single units (which it sounds like you have two of) or a dual setup with the fans attached in one case. Can you double check that model number again, it should read something like 30100XXXX

Thanks ...Alex

Alex, these are in one shroud casing, but I can't find a 30100xxxxx number anywhere. Of course there are areas of the assembly I can't see without jacking the car up or putting it on a lift...I was just giving you the numbers on the fans themselves.

Hey cool - SPAL has a website. I found the document below, and my set-up is the 2VA-AP6-37A (page 1 or the 4 page .pdf file). That would indeed equate to the 30100846 part number!

http://www.spal-usa.com/pdfs/11Fans.pdf

Like I said, it's a tight squeeze on the compressor side of the radiator, but it did fit in my Formula.

Mike,

Thanks...I talked to AMS and they give these a big thumbs up. I also found the cross referenced part number to be part # 30100846, (2VA06-14-AP6-37A). I just ordered it too.

Hey mods...this might be a good thread to archive!

Why am I so happy to be spending more money?

Cheers...Alex

Mike,

That's O.K., if they are together in one shroud casing there is only one part number they can be. Also going to talk it over with AMS (they are doing my install) to see what they normally do before I order the Spal's.

Cheers....

Hit their website, make sure you choose the USA area, and there is a list of dealers and suppliers.
