Default '98 LS1 Engine rebuild recipe for MagnaCharger

Hello,

I have read thru many posts and was hoping with the help of the knowledgeable people here I could put together a rebuild recipe of the necessary or correct components to set up a super charger engine. My application will be in a 1981 Chev. Malibu (weighs 3460 lbs, without my big a$$). Note I made a post earlier about using a 1968 Impala SS for the swap but the Impala was matching number and the Malibu seems the better choice.
The '98 LS1 from a Z-28 has a internal noise so the engine needs a tear down...the engine was in a wrecked vehicle...it is suspected someone thru something into the intake manifold.
I want to use the Magna Charger and should have plenty of clearance...with the cost of that, I can't go hog wild on a engine freshening. The goal is a high 10 to low 11's and be totally steetable, using a 4L60E and currently 3.42 posi, so here's my QUESTIONS:
1. Components or rebuild kit to use?
2. Should the compression ratio be lowered? (change heads? Use 6.0 heads?)
3. Piston swap with stock rods, but better bolts?
4. Best supercharger Cam shaft to use?
5. What would be best Nitrous kit to combine with this? 100 hp kit or less..would 50 hp kit be better?
The vehicle use is occasional trips to the track, mostly bigger events like Super Chevy etc.

Your help with be greatly appreciated...I don't want to reinvent the wheel. Also a couple weeks ago I talked with a Magnacharger tech guy...he said in a month or 2 (feb. 03) a hot rod Mangnacharger should be released, the current one I guess is only calibrated for the Corvette.

Thanks,

not alot of experience with the magna charger since i have never actualy seen one. But the only time i would lower the compression is if you are going to push alot of boost. IF you want more input tell us what boost you want and so on. But i'll give what i know.

1. LS1's are noisy, mine sounds like a damn diesel, piston slap is a factor we have to live with. Any rebuild kit will do.

2. If you are going to run a little boost i would raise the compression a bit, say with some ls6 heads or milled ls1 heads.

3. Since your doing the rebuild you should pay a little more and get better results.

4. check out www.thunderracing.com , or www.horsepowerstore.com they are both in the sponstor list. You don't want to go less than 114 lobe seperation with fi

5. You can use a 25 - 50 shot to help cool down the boost, i wouldn't go higher, unless you are doing some major mods to that motor.

Check this beast out http://www.horsepowerstore.com/page.asp?id=1 they ran a 10.15 with a stock shortblock, 8# ati kit, blower cam and ported ls6 heads. Good to look at current cars for mods.
