Confused about adding checkvalve to PCV with ATI kit
The problem is a large amount of oil coming out of the front breather tube. This tube originally was routed from the front of the passenger side valve cover to the throttle body, and with the supercharger kit it gets rerouted to the ATI supplied air intake right next to the air filter.
Now I have read posts that state that air is only supposed to go into the valve cover through this hose, and I have read posts that say air should come out of the valve cover through this hose. I am wondering which it is.
Can we just install a one way check valve so that air can go into the valve cover and not out, or would that be incorrect?
Some of the posts say to install the check valve in the PCV line, I so far have not been able to locate a PCV valve. Is this the line that goes to the rear of the passenger side valve cover?
I appreciate any help on this <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
They say the check valve goes between the intake and the PCV, is that the rear hose on the valve cover? It's hard to see anything back there. If so this would still leave the leaking tube open.
Look VERY closely at the passenger side of the intake. Look closely along the edge of the intake where it meets the block and is parallel with the valve cover. There is a hose-line there that has a bulge, covered with spongy material and tape. You physically can't see the PCV because it is covered by the tape and spongey material. Cut it, tear it off, whaterver, and the PCV will be exposed. Also, it is anchored by a metal tab that is secured by one of the short bolts that screw down into the valve cover (that also holds one of the larger connectors mounted to the valve cover).
Put the check valve between the PCV and the entry to the throttle body. Have the check valve direction of flow where air can flow FROM the PCV TO the throttle-body.
I recommend re-taping the PCV to the hose when you are done. With the boosted engine, I've seen the hose raise and the PCV come lose, if not completely secured.
That is the best I can remember.
Hope that helps!

BTW, you have mail.
John
so breather caps to the valve covers and plugged the intake.
I still get some oil trying to blow out of the covers so im getting ready to wire up my egr air pump to suck the pressure out of the engine.
