Default Chamber Size

My project is a built 4.03 x 4.125 = 421 cid (iron)
tranny = M6
CAS S2 turbo kit w/ necessary fuel

goal is around 650-750 rwhp

My questions are:

what dish piston will I need for a 9:1 c/r (pistons are JEs)

Is 9:1 good, or should I go lower/higher?

What cc head?

Any suggestions on a turbo cam that has good streetability/driving manners would be appreciated! I like Ed's idea of grandma being able to hop in the car and it be driveable for her down to the store.

Please feel free to throw some different combinations out there since my build is still in early stages.

I think you will have problems finding a good FI piston with a 6.125 stroke unless you run like a 6" rod and then the rod/stroke ratio is kind of goofy. That's a lot of stroke for a turbo setup based on my research.

Email our piston sponsor Diamond and ask Chris, he's very knowledgeable and very responsive. If you have to stay with JE then call and ask for Randy.

I am assuming that your 6.125 is a typo and you meant 4.125

This bore/stroke setup uses a 6.2 rod. I figured that this setup would be a less revvy (hence more torque to spool a turbo). The pistons will have to be JE. From what I have read, I can reduce a lot of my compression in the heads but I need to know what cc to shoot for.

Thanks

Jason

4.125 stroke and 6.200 rods?

I don't think you can get a 9:1 piston for that combination... Am I missing something?

That combo will leave you with less than 1" compression height on the pistons. Good luck getting a ring stack in there w/ any reasonable top ring land for FI. You'll definately end up w/ the oil ring on support rails in the top half of the wrist pin bore.

Get your heads then get the pistons, your gonna end up w/ a custom set anyway. You tell them what CR you want, the chamber size, stoke, rod length, deck height and clearance, etc and they'll do the relief sizing.

less RPM vs more torque will not effect spool. Flow, exhaust velocity, and heat will effect spool. Properly sized turbines will spool plenty fast.

FWIW, You don't need stroke or bore with boost
