LS1 knock sensor vs LQ4 knock sensor I had a 408 built with the best stuff I could afford - 15psi and was making over 800rwhp, but I kept having problems with lifting heads. I bought AFR 225 heads - it helped till the # 6 &7 piston ringlands let go and the builder said it was detination, but I never saw any knock, well it did knock some times during shifts and low acceleration, but no more than two. I checked the dealership and they're a different part # for cast iron vs. aluminum.
I'm thinking that the knock sensor in an aluminum block might be less sensitive than ine in an cast iron - if I'm wrong, or this is or isn't an issue let me know.
The pistons rattle themselves to death with no damage done to the top of the piston or spark plugs.
