LQ9 Heads
I've got a set of LQ9s. I know this because they have the LS6 D-shaped port. Problem is that the casting number equates to the LQ4 aluminum head.
What's up with that? As I said, it's not the standard LS1 exhaust port. It's identical to the Z06, LS6 exhaust port.
Can anyone shed some light, or better yet confirm this?
Thanks.

what is the casting number?

317
your 317's are the LQ4 heads, they are the lower performance version of the 6.0 liter heads, they came on all the regular 6.0 liter trucks, the LQ9's are the ones that came on the '02+ escalades and denalis, they have a smaller combustion chamber than the LQ4's. Gm says that the LQ9 heads are essentially the same as the LS6's, but with a larger combustion chamber.

Thanks.
Question:
From where does your information come. I've got a source that sells these heads to TEA. He says they're the heads that come on the 6.0L Escalades (ie - LQ9).

The latest issue of GM Hi-Tech performance has an LS1 head guide in it. Check it out. It has all the specs you need, too.

ValveGod (SMC) says he hasn't seen any other castings on the 6.0L other than the 317s. These are the ones that TEA uses for their FI apps.
I guess these will have to do for me.

Seriously, i am local to shaun, and he was at our shop a couple of days ago, and we actually spoke on this subject, and he agreed that they are all the same, and GMHTP is incorrect, there are no differences, so keep the ones you got, and have them done, i would think that shaun knows his Gen3 stuff, that's all he sells, sorry for the confusion, but know i am for sure, after talking to shaun, that, and our head guy said that he has had sets of both casting's and stock, they flow damn near the same, the only differences are allowable tolerance between casting shift.

I posted, NOT because I don't believe Shaun is right, but because I was hoping for confirmation as to what I already suspected, which is:
The 317 head is the only head available, and with the LS6 exhaust port, which is OBVIOUSLY cast into it, the head probably wears the same casting number on it.
After all, GM has been known to cast up a revised part, and forgotted to change the numbers in the tooling.
