I need D1SC advice.
Current Set-up: 1999 SS vert, with 420 RWHP through stock short block, 228/224 comp cam, LS-6 intake, LT headers, off road 3' Y-pipe, hooker catback, GTP S2's, Porter TB, SLP MAF, etc, etc, etc.
My questions are:
1. With this high flow set-up, what's the best PSI to run to achieve 600 RWHP (why 600 RWHP? I believe the stock short block can handle this but not much more)??? I've heard that with high flow engines a 9# pulley may only give me an actual 6# of PSI.
2. Does 600 RWHP with my current set-up feel right with a 9# pulley???
3. Who is the best supplier/vendor to buy an ATI ProCharger from and what's a typical/fair cost for an inter-cooled D1SC?
4. Typical/Fair install cost???
5. What are other things I should consider???
I look forward to hearing your thoughts, thanks!!!

i wasnt even talking about myself, just all the other people on here that have a supercharger on their car that have actual experience with a D1.
since i don't then my op is probably worthless. BUT!
-gtp s2 heads are gonna be over 11:1 from all that i have read about.. entirely too high for FI unless you plan on runing race gas 100% of the time. those will have to go in favor of some 6.0 heads (ported if you must but not machined)
even then you will probably have to flirt with race gas to get 600.. is that ok with you?
your compression will need to go under 9.0 if you want to get there on pump gas. thats a safe bet. this means another shortblock.
boost 'psi' is irrelevant. it can't be used to measure airflow or output. it would be an educated guess from anyone at best to tell you what hp comes at what intake backpressure on your car. especially with the way ati's boost numbers bounce around.
i would go straight to the site sponsors for fair pricing.. check the sponsor section on this board for specials
for 600rw you will ALSO need a serious fuel system, AT LEAST one walbro 340 intank pump with a voltage booster, 42# injectors, custom tuning via mail order or aftermarket or ls1 edit, appropriate scan tool such as auto tap. you could and i think should not want to scrape by on the fuel system since every car is different and no doubt you will eventually blow this stock motor, have a new one built and want to run more hp.. overdoing the fuel system will save you from having to do it a second time.
shortly following that you will need a new auto trans or clutch. a new rear end, and i highly reccomend some suspension/chassis work to keep from twisting up the nice car you have now. then you will need slicks to hook up and a driveshaft for the first time that you do hook up.
you are welcome <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
all in all, you are looking at another $12 for the turn-key performance i think you have in mind.
I have all chassis upgrades and clutch (double disk McCloud)to handle, 315 Nittos, rear end would have to be replaced. I race this very little but when I open it up I want max power.
Sounds like at the end of the day my money would be best spent on a 382 (or bigger) stroker all engine configuation. Not as much power but reasonable.
Thanks for being a good sport and the good advice.
Respectfully,
Ron

+added serious fuel system (bigger intank maybe dual intanks, bigger injectors I'd say go for the new Siemens 55's)
+9:1 heads, are you're current heads milled for compression?
+6-9 psi setup...
Problem with ATI setups is that those 6 rib belt setups slip at higher levels so it's rare to find someone with heads, cam, and blower who actually make 6-9psi... I see 4-5psi all the time...
Now at 4-5psi I am seeing folks making 500-540rwhp.
So...
+8 rib setup
