Default Turbo powerband question

I've noticed that the dunographs for stock motor'd LS1s, shortly after 5k rpm, the power just dies...quickly. Looking at Turbo Tech's dyno graph, LS1 motorsports dyno graph and my own...

Any reason as to why?

valvesprings? too much boost for the CR.
mine was like that too on stock engine, but now that its a built engine, it keeps pulling.

Maybe i just dont understand..
I have a 60-1 TTI kit. My powerband falls on it's face @ 5,200 rpm.

Rob's LS1 motorsports kit T63 falls on it's face past 5,200 rpms as well.

TTI's T76 kit falls on it's face after 4,800 rpms.

I know the richest spot in my powercurve, i'm at 12:1 a/f.

I dunno.

Maybe the Turbo's maxed out? Or what about the engine as a whole couldnt get the extra exhuast that the engine makes as the rpms pass the 5200rpm mark? That may cause extra back pressure? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Not sure though

Incorrectly sized turbo, not enough fuel, etc, etc, etc. There are many reasons why the powerband could drop off.

Make sure your tune is "spot on" as well. And definately what Red WS6 99 said, It's most likely starving for fuel, get some larger injectors.

When mine fell on its face, it wasnt the turbo, might have been fuel, wasnt the intake, might have been the valve springs. could be the computer pulling to much timing.

when i went to a built engine i switched out the springs to go with my cam, added a intake fuel pump and ofcoarse lowered the CR.
After that it pulls extra hard up top (i kept the ls1 intake for a while to, so it wasnt that).

i think Rob said the problem with the car he did was the springs.
that would be my first bet.

The cam has the most effect on where your powerband generally lies for both a turbo and N/A car. Most of our turbo cars here make peak power maybe only 100-300rpm past the stock peak. Think of the turbo as a giant magnifying glass on the power/torque numbers that only moves them up, not right on the graph.

Centrifugally supercharged cars are a different case because they continue to build more and more boost the higher you rev them. (As long as the belt doesn't slip) This tends to move the powerband over to the right. Again, another reason turbo cars generally live longer when properly tuned, as they don't need to see high revs to make "big" power.
