Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
With the new setup I'm doing I'm interested in getting an upgraded blow off valve...
What options are out there....
LS1bird has an aftermarket one, forgot what kind...
How does the ATI race ready sound??
How is the APEX one...
Thanks,
Bos <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Bos, just goto any one of the Import Shops.
All the ricers I know really like the Tial BOVs for high boost applications (aka Galants & DSMs)

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Several companies make good BOVs. I run a TIAL. Works good, but not for lower boost applications. HKS SS is a good one. The gredddy type S. The apex works good, and has a adjustable sound design. My friend has one for sale. Bought it for his eclipse, and it won't fit like he wants, so he is selling it if you want to pick it up cheap.

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Wait a sec.. I thought BOV's were for Turbo's only. I thought Blowers had to use Bypass valves and that there were inherit problems using BOV's on Superchargers because your dumping Air after the MAF to the Atmosphere. In other words. The MAF has already calcualated A/F for the given volume of air passing thru the MAF but it never sees the Air because you dumped it to the Atmosphere.
I'd like to hear how that problem is addressed.
BTW, does the BOV make the same Turbo Whoosh sounds on a blower? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Hmm.. I guess since you didn't address my concern about dumping Maf'd AIR to the Atmosphere it's not a problem for the ATI.
I have a Vortech with an Aftercooler. Since my blower is virutally dead silent it would be sorta cool to hear that blowoff between shifts..

Not ATI, but Brian I got a Vortech Mondo race bypass so I am not sure how it compares to a import BOV but I don't think they work the same.

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Were talking Superchargers here right? Where can I find out more info on these BOV's and is there any benefit to them other than the neeto sound?
I still don't understand how you can dump air after the MAF and not have it affect driveability. Cool if it doesn't but I thought that was why Superchargers always dumped back into the Intake elbow.

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Bigbos, if you are referring to me (LS1Bird), I don't have an aftermarket one. I have the one that came with my ATI tuner kit. I like the way it sounds, and so far have had no problems.

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
the position of the blow off on the ATI kit on my truck is right after the blower
thus is before the maf sensor so if the air doesn't reach the maf it won't affect anything
I been looking into the Apexi twin chamber unit
the fact that you can adjust the noise of the blow off sounds ok .I want some thing that is quieter than the stock one supplied. Also looking for a little more response.
besides the one ati supplies is junk and any one of the blow offs on the market would be better
I might have to bite the bullet and buy one
Anyone else have an aftermarket blowoff on the cars?

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Anti-Surge/Bypass and a BOV are the same, having had a couple of turbo imports and now a ATI SC on my Formula. The difference is when they open, on my car now it's open at idle and most of the time unless I go to WOT then it closes, but lift and it opens when the intake has vacuum. On turbo cars they closed at idle and open when there is boost and the vacuum in the intake, the TB is closed.
As for "bolt-on" I don't think any will, get the steel adaptor and some 1.5" exhaust pipe, weld it on the adaptor and then it will replace the ATI junk that came with your blower. I used the smaller Vortech unit and very happy with it. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...s/aircomp.html

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
The Turbo XS Type H bolted right on to my ATI kit.
<img src="http://www.jeremybazan.com/turboxsbov.jpg" alt=" - " />
I've had this one on since day one with the kit with no ill effects. The ATI bypass dumps before the MAF so the air that the BOV will dump is unmetered and will not affect the car. It sounds awesome, but I would like to go to an HKS SSQ BOV, but its install will require some welding of the adapter ring to the j tube of the ATI kit, not hard to do or get done.
Sorry for the big pic <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Hope this helped

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
I have a 3/4" BOV from my original 93 RX7 on my 7PSI ATI, and I am wondering if it is big enough. I also wonder if the placement of the BOV to after the Intercooler, but before the MAF, would allow the blower to regain boost quicker after shifts. What is the size of the stock ATI bypass?

Re: Blow off Valve for ATI procharger
Where can I get a turbo XS type H blow off valve??
And when I was on e-bay looking they have all different types of HKS SSQV valves, the ones I was looking at have no specification and are going for like $195 in the box brand new
