Default huh, ever see a 4" obx type (xspower) intercooler like this?

i cut off and flipped one end cap around for better cooling, made a few passes with the welder but ran out of time today.
fits better to as its not blocking the fog light where i wanted to direct air into the turbo

looks like you'll utilize the capacity of the whole core!.. wonder if there will be more pressure drop with the staggered inlet/outlet?

finally getting better on welding aluminum, found i have to clean it pretty well, weld, clean it when i stop for a second, weld, clean it again etc.
as long as this keeps my iat down better then my old tti street kit IC did ill be happy, also will have water or meth injection to cool down some more.

I woulkd have liked to flip one tank over like that but was too lazy to redo the plumbing. I would think it will work better, curious to see what your results will be IAT wise.

dont mind the other pics, need hosting to sell.

I'm glad someone finally did it...lol. Stock design lacks efficiency for sure. You addressed that now with the flip. Nice job broh....

Smoke,

How thick is the part you are welding back together? What did you have your machine set at?

I have the same intercooler and was thinking about doing what you did to yours, but I don't want to cut it apart and then not have enough welder to get it back together. I have a Miller Dynasty 200, which I think is big enough, but I have never welded a heat sink that size before.

Thanks.

I didnt measure it but i think they (the end cap) was either 1/4" or 3/16" thick
i have a lincoln 185, and had it set at 185amps AC with the pedal to the floor, it was just enough, had to make two passes though. so your md200 should be plenty

Jose, does it make the cold side plumbing easier to route on a camaro with the end tank flipped?

That I don't know since I didn't do the cold side piping, we just modded the IC.

if you have your front bumper support removed it will make no difference
it all depends on how it is mounted, i have seen some mounted with the bumper support cut and the IC placed inside that, in that case it might interfere or have to be mounted differently.
