Default SDCE spring tensioner final results

Started off with the mods listed below on a 99 SS A4. The original pulley on the P1SC was a 6 rib 3.4. Numbers with that pulley were 423 rwhp/416 rwtq. The only changes to the set up were the 8 rib SDCE spring tensioner with the 3.4 pulley and the ATI superdamper. The final results were 518 rwhp/466 rwtq. If anyone is considering the SDCE spring tensioner I would say go for it.

I also think the larger crank pulley helped.

Yeah that helped..... and the more surface area helped also with belt slip....

That is it, that is all we did (The ATI superdamper is the stock size, not underdriven). Just a straight up comparison. And of course I had the crank pinned. I was expecting about 485rwhp, but we got more. I'll take the extra ponies with pleasure.

The SDCE crank pulley is larger diameter then the stock ATI pulley. If you are still using the 3.4 blower pulley then you are spinning the blower faster. Stock 6 rib ATI crank pulley is 5.9" and the 7.25" SDCE lower pulley is quite a bit larger and spins the blower quite a bit faster. 43K at 6000rpm with the stock ATI crank pulley and 52.5K with the SDCE crank pulley if you use the 3.4 blower pulley with both.

10K impeller RPM will probably get you 3-4psi at least so thats where most of your extra power is coming from plus the belt was probably slipping some with the 6 rib if 423 was all you could get with a 3.4. But no doubt the SDCE setup is the way to go, you would never get that impeller speed reliably with the 6 rib setup, plus very little belt tension and belts last forever..

I know the crank pulley is larger. That is one of the reasons I went with the SDCE setup. I was not clear enough at the beginning, but yes I did have the whole SDCE setup installed (SDCE spring tensioner/SDCE crank pulley).

Then it wasn't a straight up comparison, like you said before!
