Default Driveability of 9.0 ish :1 when not in boost?

For those that have lowered their SCR to about 9.0:1 or so give or take +/- 0.5, how does the car drive when you're not in the boost?

not to bad, throttle isnt as quite as snappy.
you just need to up the timing a bit more.
when i went back to na i only rana 13.6@104 with the lower CR and my 224/224-114 cam, didnt put enough timing on it.

i've been driving my 383 w/ 9.1-1 compression for about 1 1/2 years w/ no issues what-so-ever. throttle response under 3k Rpm is crappy, but i'm not under 3k very often. i've shredded an aluminum driveshaft and destroyed the stock 10 bolt with a motor setup for a turbo, so no complaints on power.

i think my setup should be around 8.8:1, is the only difference going to be a little less HP, and not as much low end throttle response?

Another thing to consider... I think you would have to take into consideration things like the cam you're using, manifolds/headers, valve size, etc. All of those things shift your torque curve around. A high durtion cam (I think), headers and large valves all shift your torque curve higher up the RPM band, usually leaving you with less low end torque.

Also, can you make up for any low end torque loss with your tune?

So what it sounds like I am reading here is if you were to get a FI motor built and not put the turbo on right away then it would be ok to drive for a while? I have been thinking about this for a while.
