Default ATI Race Bypass valve

OK, I finally got my car in the running stages... Now I just need to know about the bypass valve. How do I determine when it should open?

If its the race ready bypass it has a adjustable bolt and nut on the exhaust housing. I set mine flush with the bolt before I tuned and left it, and it was perfect. It should be open all the time except when you go wot. When it senses vacuum it opens, under boost it closes, sealing the system. Make sure you have a strong vacuum source though. Good luck...

Mine is the anodized red looking one. I can hear it each time I shift, but I am not sure if it set where it is supposed to be or what. My adjuster is on the very top and the set screw is out about 1/2" or so above the jam nut.

I have the same one and I adjusted mine in all the way flush, so the bolt is flush with the nut. You want it open or venting all the time except at wot, so it can build boost.

Thumbs up

I just left mine the way it came from Procharger. Works like a charm.

Basically you can set it anywhere and it will still work, as in opening under vaccum and closing under boost. I set mine to where it barely started closing at idle, then backed the stud out about 1/4 turn. This seemed to work well, however sometimes when cruising up steep hills the bypass vave would close. I think it should only fully close when you get on it hard. So I backed it out a few turns. Basically, the adjusting stud will set how much throttle you have to give it before the valves closes. I'd say just mess around with it until you get it where you like it.

It seals when closed, and it will bleed off boost faster, if you are running or planning on running alot. And like was said its adjustable. It also vents to atmosphere and sounds cool, but not as cool as the mondo. Oh well. Its also perdy.

Do you guys still have the flutter sound when releasing pressure? How does it compare to the mondo? Also, where do you get the weld in bracket to mount it to?

Sorry for the questions, just thinking ahead.

No flutter with either the mondo or the ati, but the mondo sounds a bit louder. The ati is sort of less noticable when it opens. With my ati I only hear it open real noticibly when I shift by a wall at rev, I mean I can hear it but not pronounced like the mondo. My car is fairly loud though. If I had it to do again id get the mondo. Less$$$ good quality.

I havent heard the Mondo, but I had to plug my ears while standing over the engine and with the RPM held at around 2000rpm with the ATI bypass. It sure does move a lot of air!

So what does it take to install either the Mondo or ATI bypass valves? It does not have the same plumbing like the little ATI bypass I have now. I do plan on running a lot more boost come this summer.

It comes with the flange, o ring and the short tubing you see in the pics above, you just need to drill a hole with a hole saw and fit and weld it. And of course run the vacuum line.

You will also need to cap off the lines left over from the stock bypass valve.
