Forced induction head gaskets

help with my head gaskets I have to switch head gaskets on my car, I plan on using Cometics , what thickness is the gasket you guys using? once the heads are off the car how do you measure the piston clearence for the right gaskets, or can it be done w/o opening the engine up first? This will be the first time Ive taken heads off any car, I have the ls1howto.com intsructions but it doesnt get into that all. What do I need to know? Is 02 ls1 stock bottom end and bore.

did u put them on yourself? if so how do u measure for the right thickness? Is there a way to know how thick to buy b4 you take the head off the engine?
