A forged crank is def low on the list.. Would 6.0 liter heads really benefit me? I was looking on our parts computer today.. Looks as though the LQ9 and L31 or L13 (cant remember which for sure) Used the same head. Looks like they will run about $600 for a brand new pair. would this investment be worthwhile? Would a stock LS1 GM headgasket work ok for this?

for 500rwhp all you need is a turbo system, gauges, fuel upgrades and a good tune....thats it. now if you want to beat on it your gonna need a good rear and a good ( dumping the clutch, drag racing...hooking up hard) . you DONT need heads cam or LSX intake for 500rwhp. 500rwhp is nothing for a turbo to make.
if you want to save yourself money and time, do the forged pistons and forged rods now. THE STOCK CRANK IS FINE up to 750-800rwhp....go with a forged crank anything more than that.

My ultimate goal is to have 500whp, but stay somewhat grounded w/ pricing. I was looking at doing a forged 402 w/ FI, but that soon went out the door when i started pricing. I think i have narrowed it down to 2 options.
1. Go with the SDPC 402 shortblock, w/ AFR 225s, nice cam etc.
or
2. Stick with the 346 LS1, forge it and run the new Hi-Flo turbo kit. (how much boost can I safely run if i were to fully forge?)
Things to keep in mind..
A. Must keep good driveability/reliablity
B. Dont plan to track the car much
C. HP goal= 500whp
I dont think I am forgetting anything.... Thanks for any/all help!

Huss, Does all forged mean you have a forged crank as well? If not 647rwhp has to be stretching the stock crank from what i've read. It would be nearing the limits!?
Is 10 psi all you can run with your setup, or are you limited because of something else?
Would you say the LQ9 heads would be money well spent?
That is impressive!

Crank and everything, I am really happy with my LQ9 heads. I got brand new ones pretty cheap. ($700 Bare from GM) had them built for another $300 over sized steel values, steel retainers, 918 springs, 3 angle value job, Hardened rods that I provided.
I only run 10 PSI because my motor starts to knock at 11 PSI on 91 octane
