PTK Turbo Kit set-ups, please check in!
I can't believe how you think you have it all covered, and then you realize you forgot something!
Question: Are your cars lowered at all? I really never consider my car lowered since it is only lowered by an inch (BMR springs). I have it lowered because I hate the way 17's with 40 profile tires look with the stock springs on F-body's... not because I want my car to be "lowered" or have a "slammed" TA. Just a little gap removal.
Fast-forward to the present... Am I screwed? The crossover pipe is the one that hangs the lowest, I believe. My installer is a bit worried but not sure yet. How are your suspensions set up? Any lowered set-ups?
I have the stock springs stored at home, worst case, though I would hate to go back to 4x4 status.
Oh, and

Darren told me that clearance there was a problem with the M6s, especially if lowered.
If the pipe is too close and bangs the tranny you get KR.
Jose told me that some flattening out of that pipe like Darren did wouldn't hurt anything; fingers are crossed; mine isn't that far along yet.

Hah,
Do you mean flattening it out before installing it, or installing it and then doing some untintentional flattening while driving?
Darren, where are you?
Frost, did he ever tell you what he did?

Told me he used some typ of press I believe... and certainly while it was off the car.
.....and talking about having things covered....
In this thread everyone is OK with telling us that the bypass that comes with the kit is fine: https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-induction/404325-any-reason-not-use-bov-w-my-turbo.html
But only LAST WEEK do I find out that it is a no-no over 10lbs....
...and then I find out that the TIAL WG can't hold up to anything but pump gas... when it fails, it fails shut.
Here's another 5-600 drop in the overflowing bucket

So, the supplied BPV is good up to 10 psi? That's fine for me. However, that's a for you! Good to know, though.
What size WG is that? Mine came with a Turbosmart WG.
I'm very curious about Darren's technique on the crossover. I hope he chimes in.
Sucks about the BPV and WG for you, though, you're obviously going to run more than 10 psi, right? How much are you going to run?

I took mine off an took a hydralic press and flattened it out
yes it is VERY LOW
it hits on speed bumps and my car is not lowered
it also hits on the transmission but not since i flattened it out some
however I have already hit it once since it was flattened out
I have a set of 1 inch lowering springs in my garage but no way I would use them with the crossover like it is
I may go to a tubular crossmember and run the crossover in front of the oilpan
but for now I am driving the **** out of it
the crossove pipe is not to bad but it will scrape on some speedbumps and such
my car is stock heigth with 275/40R18 ZO6 wheels and Kumho tires

Yah, it's low. I was having fantasies of finally dropping my front end a bit after losing my FLP longtubes, and I don't think that's gonna happen.
And it's tight to the tranny, we're just going to go with a good dose of header wrapping to see if banging can be minimized. Actually, my frickin' '98 has always had false KR, so what's a little more?
I'm expecting the car to be finished at the end of the week; I'll post up with pics and info when it is complete.

Frost, can you tell us more about this "Bypass only good to 10 psi" thing? I was thinking of 10 psi max on my setup, but I'm a bit concerned if the valve might fail at that level of boost.
Anyone else, have you gone with a BOV instead? Which one, and placed where?
Thanks, guys....

What????
The allmighty PTK kit has flaws?
So you have drop all that coin and then go smash one of your pipes to make it fit?
Thats quality with a K

Hey, where'd that come from???
Ahh, it's Heath, happy for once to give a little payback to everyone that's trashed the STS for one reason or another. Of course, I don't think that any of us (who actually BOUGHT a PTK) were the ones disparaging the STS rigs.
Even if they are hanging out the silly *** end of the car. Just playin' with you, Heath.
None of us had any illusions about a front mount that was going to be delivered in a week and installed without hassle. That's just the way it is.
We'll see pretty soon here what Nick can get out of a little T67 on a stock 346. (after I've babied the new 9" and gears for 500 miles )

hehehe, Yup just some good ol fashion ribbing for my favorite STS basher who happens to pimp the PTK kits
All in good fun.
If replacing a section of pipe with some oval pipe or smashing it is your only issue. Thats not too bad. Although it is sad nobody can produce a trouble free installation/use kit.

OMG! We have the kit with the least flaws! OMG What? We even paid the most of all the kits? Preposterous! Outrageous! Malarkey! Hogwash! How unacceptable!
We, PTK'ers, are doomed! What ever will we do?
I should've gotten the STS... NO, the STS advanced package, engine is relocated to the back, turbo is front-mounted, and Napoleon Dynamite is permanently seated in the passenger seat to say "flipping sweet" with each blow-off between gears.
Let's have some fun!

I'm not going to bash or smash anything until it's absolutely necessary. Do you run methanol on your STS, by the way?
