OEM's with TT and standard models have two different cat systems.. The TT car needed some tricks to get the cats up to temp quick to keep the EPA happy.

Companies like Audi have had to come up with ways to get even those little precats to get hot quicker on turbo models. They just dont get up to temp as quick with the turbine in the path..

5.0 mustang factory cat locations were in such a place where they could be retainded with a turbo kit.
On the 2000+ F-cars, both cats are so far up on the motor, that I don't see any way to retain it, possibly on the 98-99 cars, the factory passenger cat could remain in the same position.
All car manufacturers have compromises in the calibration to get the cats to lightoff quickly. Without going very far into the technical specs, they need to lightoff a 70 degree ambient temp cat to 600 degrees in 20 seconds, higher RPM startup for the initial start times, as well as spark retard to push heat into the cats are just part of the equation.

Interesting! I had never seen a requirement for lightoff time vs temp spelled out like that. When I did a web search on the cold vehicle start I didn't really find much info. The beauracracy involving this is tough to wade through.
Pretty sure that the Incon spec for the catted y-pipe had the passenger side in the stock location, and the drivers side was moved a little, but not far (pretty much right on the drivers side turbo). Not sure how many ran that setup though, probably not many. The passenger side is way further from the manifold than the drivers, so maybe there is some slack in the original factory spec.
Makes me wonder if Incon knew they wouldn't pass all along, or if they had something else up their sleeves. Guess we'll never know.
Sorry for the thread hijack.
