Default Higher ratio rockers w/ FI setup?

Is it ok to run a 1.8 rocker or whatever an upgraded ratio would be on an FI setup? If not or if its a complicated answer, can someone explain the deal with it?

I have a .530ish lift cam. I thought I should have more lift for a 418. I also had some valvetrain noise and was messing with different pushrod lengths. I put on Comp 1.85 adjustable rockers and have the valves adjusted right and they are silent. I don't have any before and after dyno comparison but it seems to feel a little stronger. I now have .580+ lift and a quiet valvetrain so I'm happy.

I would have to say yes. That is the only internal mod I have done so far and it appears to have done some good. They were on prior to F/I, with good gains, in the torque. But now the with F/I things are even better.
Just keep in mind if you plan on a cam change down the road you might not be able to use them...

Agreed.Theyre fine so long as a cam isnt present. Say you have springs rated to .600 lift.......IF you get a cam that has .350 of cam lift and have stock 1.7 rockers you have a valve lift of .595" which is just under what your springs are rated to....now say you kept the 1.8 rockers. now you have valve lift of .630" which is over what your springs are rated to and now youll have valve float and all kinds of mayhem.

Well, I currently have mods in sig which you can see is an LS6 cam and comp 918 springs with ti retainers, etc. I believe the lift is .551 currently on the cam. With 1.8's it would be .583. Does this clarify some of the input?

thats because its a stock LS6 cam, with not much CAM lift.An aftermarket cam would be much worse.

It isn't recommended to run higher ratio rockers with the ls6 cam. If you look at the lift compared to duration on that cam, it has fairly aggressive lobe ramps. I think 1.85 rockers would cause early valve float and bounce.

So with 918's and the LS6 would it be a bad or good choice to go for more than a 1.7 ratio rocker?

bad idea.just because 1 person does it doesnt make it a good idea,no offense to him.Either just do rockers and springs, or get a cam....but if you do rockers and springs with a larger ratio than 1.7:1 then when u get a cam you have to get rid of them.
