Default sts kaboom

last night i raced an srt-8 and my boost controller went south and i hit 15 on the good old boost guage needless to say i broke something. im hoping i just mashed a spark plug but im thinking its a piston if thats the case stroker motor here i come. can i get some input on what my best bet is with a good stroker motor im thinking 408. i dont know if i want to keep the sts yet it makes great power but with great power comes great responsibility and im not responsible enough to let off the gas when i think i can win a race.

my poor wife she will leave me for sure now!

I'm sure the stock pistons are now paper weights. How many lbs were you tuned for?

Sorry to hear it man.

That sucks. I'd say forge the crap outta your bottom end, bore it 30 over and run a 355. I heard somewhere that 383's not bueno for boost.

383 is fine for FI if you build it that way to begin with. Forged of course, 9.5 CR (or lower), good heads and blower cam. The 355 is cool also. GL

I am gonna go and Dyno mine at 11lbs of boost... kinda nervous. Running 104 octane though... and good A/F ratio.

Any guesses on HP? I am thinking 560-570RWHP

You can keep the factory crank, it has been proven to handle 900+ rwhp. That will keep cost down for your rebuild. For $4,500.00 we pull an engine out of a customer's car, rebuild it having the factory crank polished, install a new oil pump, Callies Compstar rods, Diamond forged pistons, Total Seal file to fit rings, Comp cam (grind of your choice) and install your stock heads using ARP head studs. The engine is reinstalled and tuned on my Mustang Chassis Dyno.
With the above combination you can run 14 to 16 pounds of boost reliably. Bob

Yeap... just havent ran her on the Dyno yet. I was having an issue with the vacume ref line. All better now so it will be very soon!

As for what to build on budget.... you can build a cheap Iron 370 too!
