How many of you guys are running 17X11 wheels in the rear...I also was considering this setup down the road here soon...

It still seems like the Nittos may be the best all around tire comapared to the rest so far. Ive got it broke down to:

1) Nitto 555R DR's - Decent lifespan, good hook-up, pretty good daily driver - Cheapest of 3

2) Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's - From reviews - Great hook-up, Good treadwear and lifespan, Also pretty good in the rain/bad weather - Most Expensive out of the 3

3) MT ET Street Drag Radials - Sounds like BEST hook-up, but may be roughest on Stock Rear. More so than the other 2. Not really drivable at all in rain/bad weather. - Price is in between the other 2 choices

In that order, the feedback so far has me leaning towards the Nittos, but are all you guys running these going with 275/40/17 or the bigger wheel setup with 315/35/17...

If anyone has any more feed back on any of these 3 Im interested...I just want to get the best tire for my setup and what I am trying to get out of the tire...TIA fellas

I currently run 315/35/17 Nittos. Mickey Thompson is coming out with a 315/35/17 E.T. drag radial in the spring/summer. I will try those when they come out. I'm hoping they might get me a 10.70/80 something. My best time is with the 275 M/T drag radial (1.80 60ft.), I never could get a 10 with the Nittos. I still could not leave from a full out hard launch due to spin, maybe I'll be able to with the 315's.

I have nitto DR's and I can't get any traction. Boost comes on a little softer than NA so they might hook a little better. I am switching to ET radials.
The Bfg's hook better than Nitto's and last longer than ET's

Yes to both, But I need a stall in the worst way now. I can't get high enough rpm's to launch real hard with the stock converter.
I did change to a 3.73 gear and added a girdle but it is the stock 10 bolt.

What's the widest 'street' tire you can buy that can fit on a 17 inch rim? I know the Nitto's have 315's, what about the GS-D3? What's the biggest size of the GS-D3?

Are there any good 325 tires out there? And do they buck out any? I know 335's buck out...

Is there a factor, other than weight, that makes people ditch the possibility of 18 inch rims in the rear? (when it comes to getting tires bigger than 315)

Nitto 315/35/17 Drag radials on 17X11" wheels. OK life span, great daily manners, good hook, But at 450+HP you are still going to shread them on the street.

Nittos are stickier than the Goodyears and safe to use in the rain. All around I think for a daily driving this is your best choice. Not much size difference between the 275 and 315.

BFG's great on dry streets, wouldn't run them in the rain
M/T radial great on dry streets, wouldn't use them for daily driving, wear too fast, dangerous in the rain
ET streets-who runs them anymore? lol decent on the track, dangerous in rain

I run the BFG drag radial on the street on my stock SS rims and have cut 1.60, i'm sure if I had some suspension I could get that into the low 1.5's.

I will try the 315 Mickey thompson drag radial on my SS rims next if I don't go ahead and get a set of bogarts before that.

you should have put it a converter, it will be a world of a difference! I would do that before tires.

35-3600 stall will be perfect. the 3.73 gears are gonna make those tires easier to spin and just burn gas faster. really no advantage of them over a 3.23/3.42

i run 315 nitto DR's hooked as best i could with 330 rwhp through m6 (old motor) and didnt break my built 10 bolt...my buddy used to run gsd3's in the 315/35/17 and they rubbed on his quarters and ate up his sidewalls...but my nittos, also 315/35/17 did not rub ...his car was lowered 1 inch though...nittos never have rubbed on my car, stock height

ive read somewhere people running 335's, but they had to flare their quarters...not the best looking thing to do to an f-body imho...

btw, my other freind broke his stock 10 bolt on 275 nitto DR's shifting to 2nd... bolt on M6 2000 SS

Well Im hoping that since my car is A4 maybe...some DR won't rip er apart for a while (Rear End)...Im just wondering if I may still even be able to spin some MT ET Radials...Im current running a pretty basic high perf. street tire with about 1/2 tread the BFG KDWS 285/40/17 and I have hit it twice now at 60mph and gotten a lil sideways...which is pretty ridiculous if i can even hook up at that kind of speed...

I figure if i can still spin whatever tire i end up with just a little bit then my rear will be a little be safer than if i hook completly everytime i lay into the throttle...

Correct me if Im wrong but this is just my thinking on the tire situation thus far...

So Im still somewhat undecided on my tire choice although the nittos still are looking like the most popular all around with the ET as a close second...

Nitto.

Mickey's will wear out real fast on the street and aren't really designed to be driven on the street. Same with BFG's. They'll be full of rocks and be slinging up that **** up your wheelwells all the damn time. gets annoying.

I am running the BFG KD tires, the 'Killer Dry' compound. They are excellent unless it's under 40 outside. I don't drive this car in the rain.

They hook nicely and handle very well. They do not compromise much for other conditions.

I'm not willing to give up handling for stoplight traction, except maybe for Saturday nights.

I was burning the Kumhos all the way to third gear before I was hooking up. I needed tires first. The torque converter is next.

I use the NT-01's on my 730 rwhp on my Vette and they are super dry weather street tires and as far as traction goes unless I have ET Streets on them there is no traction
