Superchargers: which one the best? 
Simple question: which supercharger is the best one in your opinion? I am in the market for a 5.3 vortec: I need to increase the torque at low RPM, if possible, and then also the HP at higher rpm won't hurt.
Second question: will a supercharge in anyway effect the lifespam of an engine? Is all that higher pressure going to ruin or breake an engine in the long run? Thank you for your opinion!! Paul.

Since you are looking for Low-end power, a Root's style is what you'll want to look into. So, paxton and vortec and Procharger are not going to fit what you want.
I'm not too familiar with those types for our engines though. Someone else will have to comment on the best type. I do know screw styles are much more efficient then the the regular roots style. I know Eaton uses a rot style design.
As far as durability goes, the original design was used in Airplanes then adapted for Automotive use. They are reliable as long as you maintain the engine properly, and keep your foot off the gas and drive it more normally. Anytime you beat and race an engine, it will wear faster.
It has to do mostly with the amount of piston travel in the bore, and how the engine was built.

It really depends on how much money you want to spend, as it usually comes down to what you can get for the money.
There are 3 types of blower:
1. Centrifugal
2. Roots
3. Twin screw
Roots make good low end grunt but lack high rpm performance. Centrifugals are the oppersit and make little low end grunt but very good high rpm power. They are also the most efficent. The twin screw is the best of both worlds as it will match a Roots in the low rpm area and be pretty darn close to a centrifugal in the high rpms. down side is they generally cost more.

But IMO the twin screw is the best alrounder in terms of blower type, however how good the actual kits are for your vehicle is a totally different matter.

Absolutely it will cut down the life span of a stock engine.
Thats not just a supercharger though...

If you want low end torque, roots is the choice. As long as you dont abuse it, modern Magnachargers are supposed to last 100Kmiles, and the motor should last as long as well. However, if youre into the power all the time, you will get more wear and tear.

Cent, I would make no other choice than ATI procharger the unit is fantastic. For a roots style I would choose magnusen. They offer some great tech support as well as a really nice product.

Matter's on what you plan to use the truck for. If it's towing you need to watch out because the root style will build a ton of heat.If it's a street type of power the ATI setup is hard to beat.Whenever you get on the gas hard for fast pickup the vehicle downshifts and goes to a higher rpm which defeats a low end supercharger.
For my 5.3 Avalanche I plan on doing a Procharger.This vehicle will be towing my race car.
