sc & turbo opinions hey all, i'm looking right now for a turbo / supercharger setup and my price range is 0-1800ish. had a suggestion from a member to look for a gt-60 or gt-67 turbo headunit and try to put my own "kit" together. besides powerdyne is there any other S/C that will be in my price range? i have a m6, so will it be hard to launch with the turbo also. i'm looking to make 400 - 425 hp on my engine which is basically stock and not have to dump anymore money into a dif. rear etc., any input on a route to look at would be greatly suggested guys. i've read alot in the past couple days but there is alot and i'm new to this thanks!
Hmm, at $1,800 you are going to be VERY limited... If you go turbo, I think your best bet would be an STS kit (rear-mount turbo setup). It's the least invasive and least expensive... and people get good results with it... I think you'll easily hit that power goal. A lot of people talk trash on the STS kits, but every turbo setup is built with a purpose... and the STS purpose is to create more torque at a low cost and with minimal installation pains. For YOU, it might be the right fit!!!
well aren't the STS kits like 3500 bones? i know ill be very limited, i really love the idea of having a turbo and i think it would help me reach that power goal cheaper than a S/C. if i did go the route of putting my own turbo kit together, would a gt60 or gt67 turbo headunit do the job that i'm looking to get out of it power wise ? ( what's the real difference between front mount and rear mount turbos? just installation? )

For that price, it is DAMN hard to get what you'll need. BUT, you'd still need a tune and that pretty much puts it out of your price range.

well i kinda wanted a N/A setup, my original plans was cam it, but didn't think that would get me where i wanted to be in terms of HP. i threw around the idea of a turbo and a few people said you can piece together a remote mount system for under 1500 bucks, guess it got me alittle excited and i looked into it pretty hard. i did find a gt-60 turbo on ebay though for 800 bucks...say wastegate 200, BOV 200, and piping 150 am i missing something..?
since you already have LTs, magnaflow catback, slp lid and a z06 clutch and limited funds, heres what id do:
nice cam $400
ls6 intake $325
ported TB $150
ASP pulley $150
gears $180
tuning $500
do some research and you'll find alot of peolpe are hitting 400-415 cam only depending on the cam. check out the for sale section. I bought a ton of stuff from there and saved ALOT of money. theres always ls6 intake and big cams in there for sale.

^ what about the good ol' 10 bolt with new gears and all. i've heard people say they will go quick and others say they would last. just a roll of the dice?

and if i got that 800 gt-60 turbo would it be possible to piece together my own kit for around my price range?
