Obviously not directed at me.... but.

A friend runs a Subaru EJ22, alloy block and heads, with Cometic MLS gaskets, and his heads are O-ringed.

From what I understand, the only difference between using composite and MLS gaskets, is that the O- ring is thinner/doesnt protrude as much as it normally would with compressable gaskets.

Engine is still in one piece, so cant measure how much they actually protrude.
Gaskets are 0.061" Cometic 3 pc MLS.

If your looking to make less than a 1000hp. Then just slap a set of GM MLS gaskets on there and you'll be good for a long time. If your tune is good and using ARP studs or bolts.

W2W tested the new Cometics and they are junk. Save your money. I've heard some bad things also about the Titan gaskets.

I've ran the GM MLS gaskets to 8.40 and 172mph in my tank. This is with no O-rings and Dart heads. But I have also ran 8.60 at near 170 with GM MLS gaskets and 5.7 heads that are 0-ringed. From the comparison it looks like the O-ring in the head is helping. But this is at near 1400hp. 28psi.

sweet, i'm running graphites right now with the oring on the block and no reciver groove on the head. i was seeing 15 to 16 psi with a an F1-R and was making about 800 rwhp , and about 1000 when i was on the juice. i think what killed the graphites was the constant use of N2O bfore then a failed fan that caused the car to run a bit warm lately.
any who, thanks for the info!
