STS turbo ???
For me, I'm paying for the convenience. Screw stripping your car apart, not being able to drive it for weeks only to get all the piping back from some schmuck who claims to know how to do it and it doesn't fit right...so you find yourself compromising clearance, your character because of all the swear words you'll be using...etc. $2.5k for a true DIY for me = Good price, but possible horrible frustration, a lot of down time and extra time/money spent on something you'll probably do wrong anways. Paying $5k for it all to work right and something you can do over 1 weekend...I'm ALL FOR THAT! Seriously, what is ya'lls time and peace of mind worth? Mine is worth more than the extra $2.5k I'll have to pay.
I completely agree with this statement. And $5k for a complete turbo setup is not that expensive at all. But I am curious what you mean by full fuel system, and which turbo was included in this package?
injectors $350
tune $300
ebay IC w/ piping $200
home depot boost controller $8
500rwhp = $1858.00
even less if u get a hookup on the to0ning
having FI for less then a full blown direct port n2o setup... priceless
so far ive spent about $1000 on many majorrr parts and all i need now is piping and braided oil lines...no biggie =) i jus hope it'll be as good or better than the Sts kits at about 5-8psi

Also, Goblin as far as i know DIY rear mount guys are building their kits with the correct A/R and theyre spooling just like they need to back there. what makes you think theyre using turbos intended for front mounting?
Every single part for the STS kit can be found with the exception of the piping which has to be fabbed. If you got that kind of money then spend right away! Peace of mind is always great to have, but I would sooner line my pockets with the savings.
If he wants 8#s, why not get a spring that doesn't open the wastegate up until 8# is there? Boost controllers are if the person wants to run 2 settings. Some of us do, some of us don't.
Well that's one thing, but it's not the only thing.... an uncontrolled gate will vent early in 'anticipation' and bleed off boost early (crack point). You will lose torque. The controller will hold back the vacuum signal from the gate until your setpoint so that when it's time to open, it opens all at once.
